
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Wednesday that India was in talks with Bangladesh over the deportation of Rohingyas living illegally in the country.
He said that the government had issued orders to all the states for not providing Indian documents to any Rohingya.
He also added that the centre has issued an advisory to the states for identifying, numbering and taking biometrics of the refugees.
The Union Minister said after getting the reports from the states they would forward it to the Ministry of External Affairs, following which the MEA would talk to her Myanmar counterpart to deport the Rohingyas.
He said, "We have issued orders to all states that no Rohingya should possess Indian documents so that we can talk to the government of Myanmar and EAM Sushma Swaraj can speak with the foreign minister of Myanmar", ANI reported.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju cited the Foreigners` Act, 1946 and said that the Central Government has the power to identify, detect and deport any illegal foreign national staying in the country.
He further said that they have already mentioned that the Rohingyas had illegally entered the country. He referred to the security agencies report and said that the illegal Rohingyas were staying in the Jammu city and Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Jaipur.
