In his first speech after he won the Pakistan election, Khan had called for better ties and trade with India, as also a resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

Khan also thanked Indian cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu for attending his swearing in. "He was an ambassador of peace & was given amazing love & affection by ppl of Pakistan," Khan tweeted.

"Those in India who targeted him are doing a gt disservice to peace in the subcontinent - without peace our ppl cannot progress," Khan added.

Sidhu has been embroiled in (needless?) controversy ever since he hugged Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Bajwa at Khan's swearing-in. It has also been pointed out that Sidhu, at the ceremony, was sitting next to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir President Masood Khan.
