Karnataka: Chief Minister Kumaraswamy brims with confidence ahead of floor test

Karnataka's newly sworn-in Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Friday expressed confidence of an absolute victory during today's floor test. "I have no tension, I am going to win clearly," a confident Kumaraswamy told reports ahead of the floor test.
Kumaraswamy will aim to prove his majority putting an end to the political turmoil prevailing in Karnataka over the government formation.
Karnataka's recently concluded state assembly election witnessed the Bharatiya Janata Party emerging as the single largest party with 104 seats (only eight seats short of the simple majority mark of 112). The Congress secured 78 seats and the JD(S) 37 seats. JD(S) and Congress, along with the support of two independent candidates, stitched up a post-poll alliance with a total of 117 MLAs.
Even though the Karnataka Governor invited the BJP to form the government with a time period of 15 days to prove their majority on the floor of the house, the Supreme Court in an interim order directed the floor test to be held in just two days, even after Yeddyurappa had taken oath as the Chief Minister of the state.
Although BJP's Yeddyurappa was sworn-in as Karnataka's Chief Minister, he was unable to garner the required number of votes to form Government in the state and resigned before the top court-ordered floor test.
