The backlash between PM Modi and Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury continues after PM Modi's remarks at the Rajya Sabha.
Chowdhury has since addressed the issue and said: "This is highly objectionable, and I am going to file for privilege." The Congress also criticised Modi's remark calling him "anti-women."
PM Modi, on Wednesday, called Chowdhury out for laughing during his remarks on Aadhaar in Parliament.
"SabhapatiJi meri aapse vinti hai Renuka Ji ko kuch mat kahiye. Ramayan serial ke baad aisi hansi sunne ka saubhagya aaj jaake mila hai. (Chairman sir, I request you to not say anything to Renukaji. After Ramayan serial, we have got the privilege of hearing this kind of laughter today)," the PM had said.
"We condemn PM Modi's derogatory remark in the Parliament against former Union Minister and RS MP Renuka Chowdhury. We also urge the RS Speaker Shri Venkaiah Naidu to not act in a partisan manner and accord due respect to a fellow member of the house. #ModiAntiWomen," the party's official handle tweeted.
Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu chided the members for their "unbecoming" behaviour and asked them to resume their places.
"I have no option other than to adjourn the House," he said, suspending the proceedings till 1200 hrs.
Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned till noon after the Congress members created an uproar over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks against party MP Renuka Chowdhury.
