
Hathras, Uttar Pradesh:A police personnel on emergency duty at Etah Medical College in Hathras tragically died of a heart attack after witnessing the horrific aftermath of a stampede at a religious event. The stampede, which occurred during a gathering led by preacher Narayan Saakar Hari, known as "Bhole Baba," resulted in the deaths of over 120 devotees and left many injured.
The distressing scenes, with bodies piled up and onlookers crowding the area, proved too overwhelming for the cop, he felt uncomfortable after witnessing the tragic scenes and suffered a heart attack. He waspart of the Quick Response Team (QRT) and was called to the hospital for emergency duty.
In response to the tragedy, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed district administration officials to expedite relief efforts at the site. Expressing his sorrow on social media platform X, Adityanath described the incident as a "heart-wrenching tragedy." He announced financial assistance of ₹2 lakh ($2,397) for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 ($600) for the injured.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to social media to express condolences. Writing on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: "Spoke to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji regarding the tragic incident in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. The UP government is engaged in providing all possible help to all the victims. My condolences are with those who have lost their loved ones in this. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured."
President Droupadi Murmu expressed her deepest condolences on X, stating, “The news of the death of many devotees including women and children in the accident in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh is heart-rending. I express my deepest condolences to those who lost their family members and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
