Rift between the BJP and the Sena has been widening ever since the former staked claim for chief ministership in their coalition government in Maharashtra.
Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah is planning an outreach aimed at reinforcing the NDA’s unity at a time when the Opposition is trying to stitch together a coalition for the 2019 general elections.
On Wednesday, Amit Shah will meet Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai.
This move is being seen as the saffron party’s attempt to improve ties with ally parties ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
He is also likely to meet Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) patriarch Parkash Singh Badal in Punjab on Thursday.
The meeting with the Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and SAD leaders was scheduled after the BJP faced consecutive defeats in the Karnataka assembly elections and bypolls in a few states, the daily reported.
