In November 2005, venture capital firm Sequoia Capital invested in the site with 3.5 million dollars and Roelof Botha partner in the same firm and former CFO of PayPal joined the YouTube board of directors.
In June of 2006, YouTube entered into a marketing and advertising partnership with NBC and in November Google announced that it would be purchased by Google for $1.65 in stock.
In the same glorious year of YouTube, it was featured as 'person of the year' in Times magazine's annual issue.
