Even stricter anti-pollution measures, under GRAP-IV, will be implemented in Delhi from Monday (Nov. 18) as the air quality in the capital has deteriorated to 'severe plus' level with the AQI being 457 at 7 pm on Sunday. The restrictions, now stricter than under GRAP 3 till now, will come into force starting 8:00 on Monday.

According to DD News, "Commission for Air Quality Management Sub-Committee on GRAP imposes Stage-IV in the entire Delhi-NCR from 08:00 AM of 18th November 2024 (tomorrow)."

Key measures under GRAP-IV (For AQI > 450)

With the implementation of GRAP Stage IV, in-person classes, apart from classes 10 and 12, to be discontinued for all students under, Delhi CM Atishi said in a post on X. Primary schools were already ordered to operate online after Stage III restrictions were enforced last Friday.

Public and private offices may also be asked to function at 50% capacity, with the remaining employees working from home. To reduce vehicle emissions, trucks, except those carrying essential goods, will not be allowed to enter Delhi. Light commercial vehicles (LCVs) registered outside Delhi—other than electric, CNG, or BS-VI diesel vehicles—will also be barred unless carrying essential items.

There will be a strict ban on the operation of medium and heavy diesel vehicles (BS-IV and older models) in the city, except for those involved in essential services. Construction and demolition activities related to linear public projects, such as highways, roads, flyovers, and pipelines, will also be halted.

The government may consider additional emergency steps, including closing colleges and non-essential commercial activities and implementing an odd-even vehicle scheme based on registration numbers.
