A criminal complaintwas filed against Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday for allegedly making derogatory remarks againstPrime MinisterModi.

The complainthas been registeredin Delhi's Patiala House Court by one Joginder Tuli.

In the case filed, the complainant has sought the direction from the police to charge Rahul Gandhi under sedition case.

Rahul Gandhi has frequently accused PM Modi of addressing to the needs of big businessmen. He has also calledthe prime minister as"Chowkidaar Chor hai" on several occasions.

While addressing a rally in Maharashtra's Nanded, Rahul, on Monday, had asked how come all "thieves" have Modi as the common surname.

"But tell me one thing...Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, Narendra Modi...how come they all have Modi as a common name. How come all the thieves have Modi as the common name?" Gandhi had said.

Respondingto Rahul's remark, PM Modi on Wednesday said that the jibe made by the Congress president has maligned the entire "backward community" which he belongs to.
