
Member of Parliament Hema Malini on Thursday said she can become the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh "at any minute."
However, the Mathura lawmaker said she was not keen on taking up the responsibility, according to news agency ANI.
"If I want to, I can become that (chief minister) in a minute, but I don`t like to be tied up. My freedom of movement will end," she was quoted as saying.
The 69-year-old also commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing measures for the upliftment of farmers, women and the poor.
"It is difficult to find a prime minister like him. Leaders of other parties may say anything but we need to see who has done more work for the country," she said.
The actor-turned-politician, who was in the city to perform at a religious function, took to social media to share pictures of her visit.
"Was in Manaswad, Rajasthan for the performance of `Meera` for Uttam Maharaj Swamy on the occasion of pre-Guru Poornima After which I visited the famous & most beautiful temple of Mata Tripura Sundari there," she tweeted.
