The initial investigation into the blast outside school of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in India's national capital New Delhi revealed that the material used in the explosion resembled a crude bomb, the news agency ANI reported on Sunday (Oct 20) citing sources from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).

The school is located in Prashant Vihar in New Delhi's Rohini. No one was injured in the explosion. However, the school building,glasses of nearby shops and a car were damaged in the explosion.

No terror angle found

FSL sources also told ANI the initial investigation revealed that there was no terror angle found. However, the sources pointed out that a final clarity would be given by the agency.

The Delhi police had received a call about the explosion at around 7.47 am IST.

In a statement, the police said, "The Station House Officer (SHO) and staff reached the spot, where the school wall was found damaged with a foul smell. The glass of nearby shops and a car parked near the shop were found to be damaged."

"Fortunately, no one was injured," the statement added.

Area cordoned off

Visuals published by ANI showed that the affected area was cordoned off.

A crime team, FSL team, and bomb disposal squad were called to the spot. The fire department was also notified around 7:50 am, and two fire trucks were sent to the scene.

The sewer line was being checked, and CCTV footage was also under review to identify the type of blast involved, the police said.

Teams of the National Security Guard (NSG), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF)were also present at the spot.
