The Maruti Concept Future-S will be underpinned by the 5th generation HEARTECT platform that is lightweight and rigid while also complying with the upcoming BNSVP safety norms.
India's leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki on Wednesday headlined the Delhi Auto Expo 2018 with the global unveiling of the Maruti Concept Future-S.
With the Concept Future-S, Maruti Suzuki will begin a new era in the Indian market by introducing an altogether new segment in the country. The A-segment mini SUV will be positioned below the Maruti Vitara Brezza and will indirectly rival the Renault KWID and Mahindra KUV100. Concept Future-Sdisplays the new design direction from Maruti Suzuki for its upcoming compact cars.
The MarutiConcept Future-Swill be underpinned by the 5th generation HEARTECT platform that is lightweight and rigid while also complying with the upcoming BNSVP safety norms. Design highlights include an authentic two-box SUV silhouette with the horizontal bonnet, upright A-pillar, higher seating position and high ground clearance. As per the teaser images, the car gets LED headlamps, a 3D two-part grille and a sloping roofline. That said, the car might also sport dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels and LED tail lamps. Interiors of the Maruti Suzuki Future S Concept are yet to be revealed.
Maruti Suzuki also unveiled the latest generation model of its hottest selling hatchback car in the country, Swift, at the Expo.
The new Swift is based on the company's 5th-gen HEARTECT platform that also underpins the other two popular outgoing models Baleno and the new Dzire, launched in 2017.
Unveiling the ConceptFutureS,Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki said ''Compact is the natural choice of India's car customers. Compact needs a fresh design language, one that is bold, dynamic and confident. Our designers have created this brand new design, aggressive on the outside, and bold and inviting interiors. Nothing like this has ever been attempted on a vehicle of this size.ConceptFutureS will define the future next generation of design for compact vehicles in India.''
