Assam Rifles, Indian Coast Guard sign ‘charter of affiliation’

Charter of Affiliation

India’s oldest paramilitary force, Assam Rifles and the Indian Coast Guard signed the ‘Charter of Affiliation’ on Wednesday at the Assam Rifles Headquarters in Shillong, Meghalaya.

The Assam Rifles, which guards the Indo-Myanmar border and the Indian Coast Guard that guards India’s maritime borders and coastal frontiers carried out the affiliation between 3rd (Naga Hills) Battalion of Assam Rifles and Indian Coast Guard ship ‘Shaurya’.

The signing of the ‘Charter of Affiliation’ was followed by a joint wreath-laying ceremony at the Assam Rifles War Memorial and a combined Guard of Honour was led by Captain Ruchi Pathak of the Assam Rifles.

This initiative will facilitate a greater understanding of operational ethos, sharing of best practices from each other, building camaraderie and utilisation of each other’s assets for training, sports and adventure will be carried out.

“A battalion of the Assam Rifles will soon sail alongside the Indian Coast Guard officers and sailors on board ICG ship Shaurya from Chennai. They will train together and exchange knowledge land borders and overseas management,” said a senior official of the Assam Rifles.

The event was attended by Lt General Sukhdeep Sangwan, Director General Assam Rifles and Director General Rajendra Singh, Indian Coast Guard along with a host of officers and men from both the forces.
