Andhra Pradesh Election Results 2024: TDP-BJP-JSP alliance shatters YSRCP’s dominance

With Lok Sabha election results declared from the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) secured16 seats, while the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) won on only four seats. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clinched three seats and the Janasena Party (JSP) swayed voters on two seats.
The TDP-BJP-JSP alliance defeated YSRCP by securing a total of 21 seats out of 25 Lok Sabha seats.
In the Assembly Elections in Andhra Pradesh, the NDA with its allies once again showed its dominance with 164 seats out of 175 Assembly seats. This is a major shift from the YSRCP's landslide victory in 2019.
Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has had a long political career and served three terms as chief minister of the state.

Jagan Mohan Reddy, on the other hand, promised to increase welfare pensions and relocate the executive capital to Visakhapatnam in his manifesto.
TDP-BJP-JSP alliance manifesto promised Rs 1,500 monthly pension to women from ages 19 to 59. In addition to that, 20 lakh jobs or Rs 3,000 monthly unemployment aid was also vowed.
Another striking promise was free bus travel for women along with three free cooking gas cylinders to every household per year as well as Rs 20,000 financial assistance to every farmer annually.

With the assistance of TDP, the Bharatiya Janata Party was able to penetrate deep into Andhra Pradesh in this Lok Sabha election. This region has traditionally posed challenges for the ruling party in terms of the voter support it received.
Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu collectively contribute 109 seats.

In 2019 elections, BJP secured 29 seats. Among these, 25 seats were won in Karnataka and four in Telangana. However, the BJP failed to secure any seats in both Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The party did not win any seats in Kerala, which holds 20 Lok Sabha seats.
