The counting for the Lok Sabha Election 2024 is underway on Tuesday (June 4) and current trends predict Narendra Modi coming back to serve a third term as Prime Minister of India. Meanwhile, the oppositionINDIA Allianceis performing better than what the exit polls had predicted,setting the path for a more powerful opposition in the Lower House of Indian parliament.

"People have placed their faith in NDA, for a third consecutive time! This is a historical feat in India’s history. I bow to the Janata Janardan for this affection and assure them that we will continue the good work done in the last decade to keep fulfilling the aspirations of people.I also salute all our Karyakartas for their hard work. Words will never do justice to their exceptional efforts," PM Modi said in a post on X.
Addressing a press conference, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, "We fought this election not just against BJP but also the institutions, the governance structure of the country, the intelligence agencies CBI &EDI, judiciary because all these institutions were captured by Amit Shah & Narendra Modi ji..."
"BJP's arrogance shows in this defeat. Misuse of the institutions. Either people succumbed or those who didn't under pressure were jailed. People now believed that if PM Modi was given one more chance, he would be more attackingandautocratic," said Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge.
"Narendra Modi should resign. If Prime Minister Narendra Modi has even a little bit of morality left, he should resign from the post of PM. He had given the slogan of 400 paar but the people of the country understood that he needed 400 paar to change the constitution and end reservation. This election result is an indication that the country will not be built on the foundation of hatred but on the foundation of love," saidAam Admi Party leader Sanjay Singh.

- Union Minister and BJP candidate from Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat Rajeev Chandrashekhar, who lost to Shashi Tharoor of Congress,said, "It is disappointing given that we worked very hard….We ran a very positive campaign….3.4 lakh people supported us which is a record number….I believe we are on the right track….I am disappointed that I could not win…My commitment to Thiruvananthapuram and people of Thiruvananthapuram remains steadfast…."
- On Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh's comments for her, the winning BJP candidate from Mandi and actor Kangana Ranaut said, "...Mandi has not taken kindly to the insults for daughters. As far as my departure to Mumbai is concerned, this (Himachal Pradesh) is my 'janmabhoomi' and I will continue to serve people here...So, I am not going anywhere. Perhaps, someone else will have to pack their bags and leave. I am not going anywhere.”
- CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat said, “The race is in its initial stages right now. INDIA bloc has performed well in the initial stages. But like I said, this is only the beginning...The Exit Polls and the initial picture that was painted earlier is failing 100%.”
- CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said, "Exit poll was done to influence the share market and those who wanted to make money in the share market yesterday made money. Now the reality is coming in front of you. Now let the full results come, after that, we will tell you...INDIA alliance is doing well."
- Union Minister and BJP candidate from Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat Anurag Thakur said, "In Himachal Pradesh, BJP is leading in all four Lok Sabha seats...NDA is leading in the country...Under the leadership of PM Modi, NDA-BJP will form the government again...Congress party is not even close to winning 100 Lok Sabha seats...I am thankful to the public of Hamirpur who has given me a strong lead....The results in Himachal Pradesh and BJP are in favour of BJP..."
- Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and Congress leader Harish Rawat said, "The candidates of NDA are leading with very little margin...The public has voted for change...For the first time, PM Modi trailed in two rounds of counting...I hope that the INDIA alliance will get the majority."
- Union Minister and BJP candidate from Mumbai North, Piyush Goyal said, "I want to thank the voters of North Mumbai for blessing us. As per the trends, BJP is leading by around 1.25 lakh votes and if this continues, we will surely win the North Mumbai seat and in India, BJP-led NDA will form its govt and serve the people of the country..."
- On being asked if they are in touch with NDA allies, Congress leader Pawan Khera said, "Not every such thing is made public which is happening behind the scenes." He added, "...We are keeping the same target (of 295 seats), if everything goes well then we will definitely reach 295...Why are the results not being uploaded on time on the Election Commission website?... We are confident that we will be in a position to form the government."
