Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday ordered the Amritsar district collector to immediately release of Rs 3 crore for payment of ex-gratia to the families of those died in the train accident.
Earlier, the CM visited the victims of Amritsar train accident at several hospitals. He visited Amandeep Hospital, Civil Hospital and Guru Nanak Dev Government Hospital in Amritsar where the victims are being treated.
He also ordered a magisterial inquiry in the incident.
''We are ordering a magisterial inquiry into the incident under the police commissioner who will submit a report in 4 weeks,'' he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
The chief minister said that 59 people died while 57 injured.

''59 people killed and 57 people were injured in the incident. We will try that postmortem of the bodies are done as soon as possible. We have identified most of the bodies except 9,'' he said.
When a tragedy occurs the entire administration gets involved, he said and added that they came to the accident spot as soon as they could.
''Today, the entire cabinet of Punjab is here,'' he said.
