19 nursing students in India's Bengaluru hospitalised after inhaling rat poison

Nineteen students studying at a nursing college in the Indian city of Bengaluru, Karnataka, were hospitalised after they inhaled rat poison that was sprayed in their hostel.
According to a report by the news agency ANI, the hostel management of the Adarsh Nursing Collegesprayed rat repellent on Sunday to drive away rats from the premises.
Students, staff hospitalised
Speaking to ANI, West Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) S Girish said that 19 students fell sick due to breathing problems due to the presence of poisonous substances.
DCP Girish added that the students were immediately admitted to nearby hospitals. Some staff members of the hostel were also hospitalised.

Three students in serious condition
DCP Girish further said that almost all students received treatment and were healthy. However, three students were in serious condition and were moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the police official added.
The ANI report said that the police would register a case against the hostel management staff responsible for spraying rat repellent.
