Mumbai and the rain share a divine connection, and as the monsoon has arrived in the city, star couple Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif spent some cozy time together as they took time off from their busy lives, soaking in the Mumbai monsoon. Vicky shared a heartwarming black-and-white picture of himself, spending a precious moment with his wife, as the two appeared to be watching the rain from their balcony. The 'Uri' actor remained seated in the front, while Katrina embraced him from behind, with her face and arms resting gently on Vicky's shoulder. "Rains and you," he wrote in the caption.

The trailer of Alpha starts with the voice of Dibyendu Bhattacharya, the actor, who is playing a close acquaintance of Bobby Deol's character in YRF's first female-led spy thriller. But, for Dibyendu, it was the excitement to work with director Shiv Rawail again. How did you react when Alpha came your way?

Dibyendu Bhattacharya: Alpha is, of course, a Yash Raj Films project, but for me, the biggest reason to say yes was director Shiv Rawail. He's like a younger brother to me. I had worked with him on his first project The Railway Men, and this is our second collaboration. I really enjoy working with someone as talented as Shiv. So when Alpha came to me, I was genuinely happy. I have a small but very significant role in the film, and audiences will understand its importance once the movie releases.

WION: What excited you most about joining this spy world?

Dibyendu Bhattacharya: It's fantastic, and it's a completely different world, the spy universe. As an actor, I don't like to limit or judge myself based on genres. Whether it's a niche film, a supernatural film, or a mainstream commercial movie, I want to do them all. And of course, I definitely want to do mainstream films because they bring you closer to a much wider audience. Mainstream cinema has an enormous reach. So yes, I was really excited about Alpha and the opportunity to work with Shiv Rawail.

WION: The trailer has already created a lot of buzz. How was the experience of sharing screen space with Alia Bhatt and Bobby Deol?

Dibyendu Bhattacharya: It was fantastic. Most of my scenes are with Bobby Deol, and he's an incredible human being, a complete gentleman. He's always smiling, warm, and very accepting. He was an absolute delight to work with. He's a darling. We spent a lot of time together during the shoot, whether it was filming, eating meals, or simply talking about different things of life. During the shoot, Bobby's father, veteran actor Dharmendra, passed away, which was an incredibly sad moment for him and for the industry. Through all those conversations, Bobby Deol and I developed a great rappo. I truly got to know him during the shoot. Before that, I didn't really know him, but now I've gotten to know him closely, and that's something I really value.

I had never worked with Alia before, but I had done a show called Poacher. She was the executive producer of that series, so I had already met her during the promotions, where she was very involved and was there everytime. So I already knew Alia before Alpha. It was a lot of fun working with both of them.

More about Alpha

One of the most anticipated films in the YRF Spy world, Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in the lead roles, is finally set to hit theatres on July 3. Helmed by Shiv Rawail, the movie is the new addition to the spy world, which had movies like, Salman Khan's Tiger series, Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Hrithik Roshan's War, and yes, in this one, Roshan has the cameo too.

Dibyendu Bhattacharya needs no introduction. He has proved himself with his work, and today, he has worked in roles across every medium possible, whether it's OTT or cinema. The actor will next be seen in Alia Bhatt’s Alpha. Read his exclusive interview here.

When you think of Japan, the first things that come to mind are ramen and noodles. While it’s one of the most famous delicacies in the country, it has also become incredibly popular with Gen Z. Trying ramen has turned into a trend, but it’s also cheap and one of the easiest options.

While noodles and ramen have long been staples in East Asia, in India, where spice levels are typically moderate, they have become a major phenomenon. Once just street food, ramen is now a humble dish you can find anywhere. This is the story of ramen’s journey from noodle soup to a localised international cuisine. As the India-Japan summit gets underway in the capital, here we tell the story of ramen, not just in Japan, but also how this Japanese instant-noodle empire localised in India.

What exactly is ramen and it's history

This noodle dish originated in Japan, but its roots actually trace back to China. Setting that history aside, we’re talking about a dish that started as Chinese-style noodles, which Japan adapted and transformed. Ramen is simplicity and style in one bowl, and that’s what has appealed to foodies worldwide. In India, it has not only become Gen Z’s go-to food, but much of the credit also goes to how Nissin Foods has customised instant noodles for the Indian palate.

Also read: Why a 10-minute delay is a big deal in Japan - and what India can learn from its culture of punctuality

But what exactly is ramen? In simple terms, ramen is freshly cooked noodles served with broth, the most important part, along with toppings of your choice.

The origin of instant noodles and how Nissin won the market.

In 1958, Momofuku Ando, who invented the world’s first instant noodles, Chicken Ramen, founded Nissin. In 1971, he introduced Cup Noodles, revolutionising convenience food globally.

Also read: The silent magic of Studio Ghibli: Why Indian audiences keep coming back

While Japanese food is sometimes seen as elite cuisine that comes with a huge price tag, at least in India, that is not the case for ramen. By introducing it at cheaper rates, Nissin made ramen easily accessible. If we talk about ramen in India, it’s available everywhere, from supermarkets to 15-minute delivery apps. But in the Indian market, Nissin cracked the code by launching flavours tailored to Indian tastes instead of simply selling the same noodles available in Japan.

Entering India, selling authentic Japanese ramen without changes would have limited its appeal. So Nissin localised it and faced a unique challenge: coming up with tastes that had stronger spices, regional flavours, vegetarian options, and masala-based seasonings rather than subtle broths. Instead of expecting Indians to adapt to Japanese flavours, Nissin adapted to India. Over time, the brand released a range of options, from saucy curry noodles to healthy atta noodles. There’s Masala, there’s Fiery Chilli, there’s Atta Masala Noodles and Curry Noodles.

What was the boon was the affordable pricing and the advertising that focused on Indian families, children, and quick home meals rather than how it is presented in Japan.

Ramen has evolved and has become Japanese culinary icon, but its journey in India is a story of localisation. As the India-Japan Summit shines a spotlight on ties between the two nations, here's a look at how Japanese food giant Nissin transformed ramen for Indian audience.

What exactly is ramen and it's history This noodle dish originated in Japan, but its roots actually trace back to China.
Iconic actor Manoj Bajpayee has applauded Bollywood's brightest young talents, Abhay Verma, with whom he has shared a screen space in the acclaimed series The Family Man. Recalling how he instinctively recognised Hrithik's star potential years ago, Manoj revealed that he now sees a similar spark in Abhay.

Speaking about Abhay, Manoj shared, "I met Abhay before The Family Man. I have a gift of gauging if a person is going to go somewhere... Bhagwaan ne aisa diya hai kuch. I had a similar feeling about Kartik Aaryan and Hrithik. I vividly remember Hrithik was shooting for Fiza. The film also featured my wife, Shabana. I was shooting nearby when Pradeep Guha and Khalid asked me to watch one of Hrithik's takes. The moment I saw him perform, I knew he was going to be a superstar. The rest is history."

He further added that meeting Abhay Verma gave him the very same instinct, expressing confidence that the young actor possesses the talent, dedication, and screen presence to carve out an equally remarkable journey in the industry.

Coming from one of Indian cinema's most respected performers, the endorsement is significant for Abhay Verma, who has steadily built a reputation with his nuanced performances and thoughtful choice of roles. The actor has an exciting slate ahead, including portraying real-life Kargil hero RS Dhaliwal in Operation Safed Sagar, starring alongside Jimmy Shergill, Dia Mirza, Prajakta Koli, Adil Hussain, Mihir Ahuja, Taaruk Raina, Arnav Bhasin and Amrita Bagchi. He will also be seen in Shah Rukh Khan's King, along with JC and Laikey Laika.

With an industry stalwart like Manoj Bajpayee publicly backing his potential, Abhay Verma's journey is increasingly becoming one to watch. If Manoj's instinct has indeed proved right before, Bollywood may well have found its next breakout star.

Hailing from Panipat, Haryana, Verma has been part of shows like The Family Man (2021) and Safed (2023). However, his breakthrough came with the comedy-horror film Munjya (2024).

He further added that meeting Abhay Verma gave him the very same instinct, expressing confidence that the young actor possesses the talent, dedication, and screen presence to carve out an equally remarkable journey in the industry.

The rest is history." He further added that meeting Abhay Verma gave him the very same instinct, expressing confidence that the young actor possesses the talent, dedication, and screen presence to carve out an equally remarkable journey in the industry.

Abhay Verma is living the dream he once imagined. The 25-year-old from Panipat, North India, got his standout performance in the horror-comedy Munjya. Now, the actor has been hailed by actor per excellence Manoj Bajpayee.

'Abhay Verma has the same potential as Hrithik Roshan to become a star,' says Manoj Bajpayee

What drew further notice was that it outlines the borders of the region before the 1948 Nakba, meaning the pendant is shaped like a map of historic Palestine prior to the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. This necklace is significant because it’s a symbol of Palestinian identity and heritage. As he walked out wearing the necklace, his picture went viral across social media.
