<h2>Deepika Padukone's look from Atlee-Allu Arjun's film, internet reacts</h2>

<p>The production house, who is bankrolling the project Sun Pictures took to their X and Instagram handles and shared a video of Deepika Padukone and Atlee talking about the script before she transitions into the role wearing a futuristic suit. Along with the video, the caption read, "The Queen marches to conquer. Welcome onboard @deepikapadukone. #ThfacesofAA22xA6".</p>

<p>Soon fans flooded the comment section with excitement and one user wrote, "Congrats to team". Another user wrote, "Atlee's vision looks massive- this feels less like a film and more like the rise of a cinematic universe. Deepika in, Allu Arjun leads, scale turned superhuman". "Deepika Padukone is truly a superstar. Her aura and screen presence is unbelievable", wrote the third user.</p>

<p>This will be Deepika Padukone's second collaboration with Atlee after <i>Jawan</i>, which was released in 2023. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra, Vijay Sethupathi, and Ashlesha Thakur among others. For the unversed, this will be Deepika Padukone's first project with Allu Arjun.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The upcoming action sci-fi film, tentatively titled <i>AA22xA6</i> is expected to be a pan-India release and is touted to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever.</p>

<h2>Deepika Padukone's controversy about shorter working hours</h2><p>Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit grabbed headlines. But, it became more highlighted after the filmmaker took to &nbsp;X and accused a celebrity of leaking certain aspects of the film. He stated, "When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) between us. But, by doing this, you've 'DISCLOSED' the person that you are...Putting down a younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for?".</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>He further wrote, "As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft &amp; for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn't get it. You won't get it. You will never get it". The other demands made by Deepika Padukone irked Sandeep Reddy Vanga. As per reports, Deepika allegedly requested an 8-hour workday, which translates to only 6 hours of actual shoot time. She also demanded a hefty fee of Rs 20 crore for her role and a percentage of her film's profits. She even refused to deliver her dialogues in Telugu.<br>&nbsp;</p><p>For <i>Kalki 2 </i>too Deepika Padukone asked for the same demand of shorter working hours due to which there are rumours floating that makers are considering removing her from the film entirely.</p>

<p>Ektaa Kapoor is celebrating her 50th birthday today, and Smriti Irani wrote a heartfelt note thanking her for years of support and wishing her well for the future. The duo famously worked together on the hit TV show<i> Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.</i></p><h2>The legacy of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi</h2><p><i>Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi</i> was one of the longest-running and most popular Indian TV shows. Ektaa Kapoor produced the show, and Smriti Irani played the now iconic role of Tulsi, the lead character. Smriti’s powerful performance and Ektaa’s storytelling made both the show and the actress household names.</p><h2>Smriti Irani’s heartfelt Instagram tribute</h2><p>Taking to Instagram, Smriti Irani shared a never-before-seen picture of the two of them and wrote:</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>"That night, we walked — from the quiet lanes of Juhu to the sacred steps of Siddhivinayak. Not in celebration, but in surrender. She had made a silent vow when I was chasing a dream — a prayer not for herself, but for me. And when the dream turned real, when the world clapped — she didn’t call to revel in the applause. She reminded me: We owe Bappa our thanks. Gratitude walks before pride in her world."</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>"The world knows her as fierce — a woman of will, words, and unwavering resolve. But I have known her silences; the softness that doesn’t seek attention, the care that doesn’t need credit. She is the quiet strength behind many journeys, the keeper of promises no one else hears. Today, she turns 50. A milestone many will raise a toast to."</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>"But in the hush of this day, I whisper a prayer — May peace wrap itself around her like a shawl on a weary evening. May success find her, not because she chases it, but because she gives so much of herself away. She deserves both. And so much more. Happy Birthday EK," she concluded.</p>

Ektaa Kapoor is celebrating her 50th birthday today, and Smriti Irani wrote a heartfelt note thanking her for years of support and wishing her well for the future. The duo famously worked together on the hit TV show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The legacy of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was one of the longest-running and most popular Indian TV shows. Ektaa Kapoor produced the show, and Smriti Irani played the now iconic role of Tulsi, the lead character. Smriti’s powerful performance and Ektaa’s storytelling made both the show and the actress household names. Smriti Irani’s heartfelt Instagram tribute Taking to Instagram, Smriti Irani shared a never-before-seen picture of the two of them and wrote: "That night, we walked — from the quiet lanes of Juhu to the sacred steps of Siddhivinayak. Not in celebration, but in surrender. She had made a silent vow when I was chasing a dream — a prayer not for herself, but for me. And when the dream turned real, when the world clapped — she didn’t call to revel in the applause. She reminded me: We owe Bappa our thanks. Gratitude walks before pride in her world." "The world knows her as fierce — a woman of will, words, and unwavering resolve. But I have known her silences; the softness that doesn’t seek attention, the care that doesn’t need credit. She is the quiet strength behind many journeys, the keeper of promises no one else hears. Today, she turns 50. A milestone many will raise a toast to." "But in the hush of this day, I whisper a prayer — May peace wrap itself around her like a shawl on a weary evening. May success find her, not because she chases it, but because she gives so much of herself away. She deserves both. And so much more. Happy Birthday EK," she concluded.

<p>In the video, Harry can be seen pressing play on the baby mama hit by Starrkeisha, dancing to the song. Meanwhile, Meghan starts to twerk before the couple moves into a rhythm together and gyrate around the room.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h2>‘AI Video’ claims the Internet</h2><p>Several critics on X claimed that Meghan’s video could not be from her time in the labour room. Some said her bump was too high and wrongly shaped to be real.<br>&nbsp;</p><p>Other people alleged Meghan's ability to dance at more than 40 weeks pregnant meant she was a "superhuman" or her pregnancy was a sham.<br>&nbsp;</p><p>“This is crazy. I do not for one second believe this video is real. Who the heck dances like that when readying to labour? No one," one pointed out.<br>&nbsp;</p><p>"The bump is mishapen and she still doesn't look pregnant. Overloading lies. AI video."</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Another person questioned why Meghan was not linked to an IV drip to receive medication nor wearing a hospital gown.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>"She's not in a hospital gown, not hooked up to a baby monitor," they said.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>"They wouldn't have started an IV on her when she was still in her street clothes and wouldn't have unhooked it so she could dance."</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>A person who claimed to be a nurse echoed the sentiment and said Prince Harry's wife would have had a cannula in her hand in labour.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h2>Meghan shares unseen photos of Lilibet</h2><p>Meghan shared a few previously unseen photos of Lilibet to mark the special day. Lilibet is seventh in line to the British throne.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>In one photo, Harry held baby Lilibet wrapped in a blanket, while a second photo showed the barefoot father and daughter duo holding hands.<br>&nbsp;</p><p>In the caption, Meghan said her husband and daughter have the "sweetest bond to watch unfold."<br>&nbsp;</p><p>"Daddy’s little girl and favourite adventurer, Happy birthday, Lili!" she said.</p>

<p>The song <i>"Laal Pari"</i> is probably the only thing you’ll find yourself humming after watching this week's big Bollywood release<i> Housefull 5</i>. However, the fourth instalment - unarguably the most torturous one, which we got almost six years ago (remember Bala, Bala?), is still the worst. That said, compared to part 4, this one is quite passable.<br>&nbsp;</p><h2><strong>Plot? What does that even mean?</strong></h2><p><br>When it comes to writing about the <i>Housefull 5</i> plot, a five-minute silence, please. Hmmm... so the story starts with a murder. Cut! We see a luxury yacht in the deep blue sea. Cut again! We’re introduced to the soul of the franchise, actor Ranjeet, playing business tycoon Ranjeet Dobriyal, a lusty and perverted old man, celebrating his 100th birthday. Unfortunately, he dies, leaving behind a will that goes to his mysterious son Jolly, owner of billions of pounds.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Next, we see three Jollys- one is Akshay Kumar, the second is Riteish Deshmukh, and the third is Abhishek Bachchan. However, the others - Jackie Shroff, Abhishek Bachchan, and Sanjay Dutt - are reduced to caricatures. I honestly don’t know what fun they had playing these roles.</p><h2><br><strong>Watch it or skip it?</strong><br>&nbsp;</h2><p>The <i>Housefull </i>franchise has always demanded to be watched without using one's brain. &nbsp;I had so many issues with the movie. But, when you bring together a huge team of actors, creatives, writers, and directors, and give them all the best resources, the result should be at least a passable film. Still from the movie

<p>Shroff and Dutt's cartoonish performance in the movie was heartbreaking. Also, I missed the ladies as they didn't have much role, except looking fantastic, dressing outstanding, but barely spoke.</p><h2><strong>Is vulgarity the new comedy?</strong></h2><p><br>By vulgarity, I mean the double-meaning, crass dialogues, the one-liners that fail to deliver genuine laughs. A few scenes in the movie were not funny at all, and the women were all hypersexualised. Many would argue that such a thing comes with a comedy as a genre, but sexism in <i>Housefull 5 </i>is of an unbearable level.&nbsp;</p><p><br>A character in the film is called Lucy, who is ogled at for her cleavage, and in a scene, even her skirt. Another scene features Jacqueline, Sonam, and Nargis in an AC duct, where the camera zooms in on their bodies, as if there was nothing else to show.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>At a time when Bollywood needs desperately to recalibrate, fa ilm like <i>Housefull 5</i> takes the entire industry 10 steps backward. Housefull 5 has released in theatres on June 6.&nbsp;</p>

Moonwalk, Malayalam film tribute to Michael Jackson, a nostalgia trip into 1990s. A very personal review

In the last scene of Moonwalk, the tribute from Malayalam cinema to Michael Jackson, I spotted my dance instructor from the 1990s in the role of a breakdance competition judge. As I walked out of the cinema hall after the show, a bunch of new-generation YouTubers were asking opinions from the departing audience. Such audience reviews are now the norm in the movie industry of southern Kerala state, and can make or break films. For a moment, I felt like talking to the YouTubers, but I walked away, with a limp from my newly acquired back pain. As I stepped out, I felt the passage of time that affected my feet, which once tapped to songs from Michael Jackson and plenty of others, and doing signature breakdance steps such as 'wave', which is among the main meme-worthy scenes of Moonwalk. More than just another movie, Vinod AK's directorial debut was a nostalgia trip for people like me, who were young, restless and rebellious in the 1990s. It was an era when the Indian government's globalisation and liberalisation policies introduced the college-going youth to western music and dance. Michael Jackson was the undisputed king of pop, both as a singer and dancer. Breakdance, and later hip hop, were emerging as the new dance forms in Indian cities and towns. Tuning in to western music, wearing baggy pants, growing our hair long on the front (called shade) and back (called tail), riding bikes, and learning breakdance were part of the lifestyle and trends of the 1990s youth, almost a rite of passage for our times. The story of Moonwalk - a group of friends bonding over breakdance and taking inspiration from Michael Jackson to form a troupe - is the distillation of that subculture of music and dance in some parts of Kerala. It is almost unbelievable when looking back, as to how this essentially American culture swept us by our feet, quite literally. It happened because of several reasons, most depicted in the film: the availability of music cassettes and VHD tapes, either sent or smuggled from the Gulf or elsewhere by relatives of Malayalis, the search for something different from the regular small town existence of Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala, and even a streak of rebellion, that made many of us pierce our ears and wear ear-rings, as shown in the film, and seek out and aspire for a culture bigger than ours. It helped me relate to the nostalgia, as even the language, which we call Trivandrum slang, was on point. As shown in the film, many of the dance troupes struggled to find stages, as it was quite a contrast from what Kerala - or for that matter India - was familiar with, culturally and musically. It was a sharp contradiction to see breakdance performances amid temple festivals, church events, or college functions. Dancers and musicians who looked up to the West for inspiration were often scorned and publicly ridiculed, or even attacked, all of which is shown in the film. The humiliating haircut that the troupe members received at a police station is quite possibly based on a real incident or incidents. The film had some dance moves that were relatable, though the choreography, framing, and editing could have been better. Then there is the limitation imposed by music copyright, which meant that none of Michael Jackson's songs, which we danced to in those days, could be used. The film's storyline also tried to incorporate the reality of racism and caste discrimination, by positioning a youth from a fisherman's family as a key dancer, the troupe's true inheritor of Michael Jackson and subsequent leader. The dancer, in Michael Jackson costume, being asked to carry a jackfruit on his head as an errand, is reflective of the times he lived in: Life happens amid all the fantasy ride. Reality hits hard at the end of it all. Many of the dancers went to different pastures eventually. Some went outside Kerala, or abroad, for further studies or jobs, carrying with them memories of a few great days and nights, while only a few stuck to their passion, becoming dance instructors, choreographers, directors and producers. The film, shot in 2020, almost didn't release till the top director-producer duo Lijo Jose Pellissery and Listin Stephen came on board as producer-distributor. In doing so, they helped not only bring a movie to the audience, but also leave behind an almost ethnographic documentary of a time that many youngsters of the late 1980s to 1990s from the sleepy southern town hold dear in their memories. While the film is not perfect, it needs to be appreciated for the effort that went into re-creating such a unique era of our young days.

The recent announcement that James Gunn's Superman movie will have a runtime of 2 hours and 9 minutes has led to online speculation that Warner Bros. Studios had asked the director to cut down the original length of the film.

The recent announcement that James Gunn's Superman movie will have a runtime of 2 hours and 9 minutes has led to online speculation that Warner Bros. Studios had asked the director to cut down the original length of the film. This was due to an earlier rumour that claimed the movie's runtime was originally 2 hours and 20 minutes. Responding to a fan who raised the rumour, James Gunn said, "Zero truth to that. And they couldn’t even if that’s something that they wanted to [do]. It’s a DC Studios film." Film wrapped and ready for release Gunn had recently taken to X and announced that Superman was officially done with post-production and that he couldn't wait for audiences to see the film on the big screen. The movie will be the first entry in the DCU and will serve as a launchpad for several planned DC projects.

The studio behind the Oscar-winning "Spirited Away" has become a cultural phenomenon since Miyazaki and the late Isao Takahata established it in 1985.

Japan's Studio Ghibli turns 40 this month with two Oscars and legions of fans young and old won over by its complex plots and fantastical hand-drawn animation. But the future is uncertain, with latest hit "The Boy and the Heron" likely -- but not certainly -- the final feature from celebrated co-founder Hayao Miyazaki, now 84. The studio behind the Oscar-winning "Spirited Away" has become a cultural phenomenon since Miyazaki and the late Isao Takahata established it in 1985. Its popularity has been fuelled of late by a second Academy Award in 2024 for "The Boy and the Heron", starring Robert Pattinson, and by Netflix streaming Ghibli movies around the world. In March, the internet was flooded with pictures in its distinctively nostalgic style after the release of OpenAI's newest image generator -- raising questions over copyright. The newly opened Ghibli Park has also become a major tourist draw for central Japan's Aichi region. Julia Santilli, a 26-year-old from Britain living in northern Japan, "fell in love with Ghibli" after watching the 2001 classic "Spirited Away" as a child. "I started collecting all the DVDs," she told AFP. Ghibli stories are "very engaging and the artwork is stunning", said another fan, Margot Divall, 26. "I probably watch 'Spirited Away' about 10 times a year still." -'Whiff of death' - Before Ghibli, most cartoons in Japan -- known as anime -- were made for children. But Miyazaki and Takahata, both from "the generation that knew war", included darker elements that appeal to adults, Miyazaki's son Goro told AFP. "It's not all sweet -- there's also a bitterness and things like that which are beautifully intertwined in the work," he said, describing a "whiff of death" in the films. For younger people who grew up in peacetime, "it is impossible to create something with the same sense, approach and attitude", Goro said. Even "My Neighbor Totoro", with its cuddly forest creatures, is in some ways a "scary" movie that explores the fear of losing a sick mother, he explained. Susan Napier, a professor at Tufts University in the United States and author of "Miyazakiworld: A Life in Art", agrees. "In Ghibli, you have ambiguity, complexity and also a willingness to see that the darkness and light often go together" unlike good-versus-evil US cartoons, she said. The post-apocalyptic "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" -- considered the first Ghibli film despite its release in 1984 -- has no obvious villain, for example. The movie featuring an independent princess curious about giant insects and a poisonous forest felt "so fresh" and a change from "a passive woman... having to be rescued", Napier said. - Natural world - Studio Ghibli films also depict a universe where humans connect deeply with nature and the spirit world. A case in point was 1997's "Princess Mononoke", distributed internationally by Disney. The tale of a girl raised by a wolf goddess in a forest threatened by humans is "a masterpiece -- but a hard movie", Napier said. It's a "serious, dark and violent" film appreciated more by adults, which "was not what US audiences had anticipated with a movie about a princess". Ghibli films "have an environmentalist and animistic side, which I think is very appropriate for the contemporary world with climate change", she added. Miyuki Yonemura, a professor at Japan's Senshu University who studies cultural theories on animation, said watching Ghibli movies is like reading literature. "That's why some children watch Totoro 40 times," she said, adding that audiences "discover something new every time". - French connection - Miyazaki and Takahata -- who died in 2018 -- could create imaginative worlds because of their openness to other cultures, Yonemura said. Foreign influences included writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery and animator Paul Grimault, both French, and Canadian artist Frederic Back, who won an Oscar for his animation "The Man Who Planted Trees". Takahata studying French literature at university "was a big factor", Yonemura said. "Both Miyazaki and Takahata read a lot," she said. "That's a big reason why they excel at writing scripts and creating stories." Miyazaki has said he was inspired by several books for "Nausicaa", including the 12th-century Japanese tale "The Lady who Loved Insects", and Greek mythology. Studio Ghibli will not be the same after Miyazaki stops creating animation, "unless similar talent emerges", Yonemura said. Miyazaki is "a fantastic artist with such a visual imagination" while both he and Takahata were "politically progressive", Napier said. "The more I study, the more I realise this was a unique cultural moment," she said. "It's so widely loved that I think it will carry on," said Ghibli fan Divall. "As long as it doesn't lose its beauty, as long as it carries on the amount of effort, care and love," she said.
