Spike Lee apologises for calling Woody Allen 'friend': My words were wrong

Ace filmmaker Spike Lee is taking back his statements on Woody Allen.
Lee had defended Allen as he had called him a “friend” and said, "Woody is a friend of mine, a fellow Knick fan, so I know he’s going through it right now.”
He had further said, "I’d just like to say Woody Allen is a great, great filmmaker and this cancel thing is not just Woody. And I think when we look back on it we are going to see that — short of killing somebody — I don’t know that you can just erase somebody like they never existed."
As soon as his comments surfaced online, all hell broke loose for Spike Lee as people targeted the filmmaker for siding with Woody Allen who has long been accused of molesting his adoptive daughter Dylan Farrow -- a charge he has always denied and deemed accusations baseless.
Post the criticism, Lee apologised on Twitter to take back his statements and said, "I Deeply Apologize. My Words Were WRONG. I Do Not And Will Not Tolerate Sexual Harassment, Assault Or Violence. Such Treatment Causes Real Damage That Can’t Be Minimized. -Truly, Spike Lee.”
