Akshay Kumar starrer 'Mission Mangal' clashed with John Abraham starrer 'Batla House' and gained a good start owing to public holiday -- Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan.
Actors have said this time and again that there is space for more than one film to perform well at the box office even if they release on the same day but it got proven yesterday when Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Mission Mangal’ recorded a bumper opening while John Abraham starrer ‘Batla House’ opened with a good start.
Mission Mangal is reported to have minted Rs 29.16 crore on the first day of its release while Batla House is said to have collected Rs 13-14 crore.

Meanwhile, Batla House stars Mrunal Thakur apart from John and is based on the encounter that took place on September 19, 2008, when a team of the Delhi Police Special Cell raided a flat in Batla House in south Delhi’s Jamia Nagar on a tip off that the alleged terrorists involved in the September 13, 2008 serial blasts in the national capital were holed up there.
