Harry Potter fans met with a surprise when Matthew Lewis tweeted that there will be a new film from the franchise with the original cast and that it would start shooting in 2020.

The franchise fans started pouring in their comments, crying tears of happiness at the news but only if this were true.

Matthew played a trick via his Twitter feed as the post was a way of the actor to attract the attention of the youth and get them to register for electoral voting in the UK General Election that is slated to happen next month.

He had tweeted, "New Harry Potter film with original cast to begin shooting in 2020," along with a link.

As the netizens started landing on the link, they understood that it was completely different from what they had anticipated. While some applauded his genuity, others were visibly disappointed.

One user wrote,  "How dare you get our hopes up like that!! However, a FANTASTIC way to get that information out. Nothing is more important for a citizen of a country to do than vote (and serve if able) for their future! Might not be a UK citizen, but I applaud your initiative, commented a fan on his post."

Another wrote, "I'm not even British, you hurt me for nothing. But it was crafty and the Slytherin inside me appreciates that. Imagine my clapping in a slow way that sounds sarcastic and therefore thinly veils that I am honestly impressed."

Meanwhile, for the fans, it has been over eight years since the last Harry Potter film came out. ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows’ had come out in 2011. There has been a spinoff, with the most popular being ‘Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them’ but the Potterheads want something from the original franchise.
