Good news for Linkin Park fans as the group plans a reunion for the first time since Chester Bennington’s death in 2017. Reuniting after seven years, Linkin Park is back with a new lineup and some new music.
The band made the announcement with a livestream in which they showcased new singer Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain, who join returning members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix and Joe Hahn.
Shinoda and Armstrong will be on vocal duties.
Linkin Park’s new lineup dropped a single titled “The Emptiness Machine”. They also announced a new album, From Zero. It will release on November 15. Announcing the new release, Shinoda said in a statement, “Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking.”
In the statement, they also mentioned that Armstrong comes from alt-rock band Dead Sara and Brittain is a songwriter and producer who has worked with Papa Roach, One OK Rock and All Time Low, among others. He replaces original drummer Rob Bourdon, who “has decided to step away.”
Linkin Park was a highly successful rock band which enjoyed fandom all over the world. The original members alongwith Chester Bennington gave some exemplary hits.
Chester died at the age of 41 by suicide. His suicide came as a shock for all his fans. It was right after the release of the band’s last album, One More Light.
Post the loss of Chester, Linkin Park has dropped a number of re-releases, including 20th anniversary editions of “Hybrid Theory,” “Meteora” and, this year, the career-spanning greatest hits collection, “Papercuts.”
The band also announced the “From Zero World Tour,” featuring five shows in Los Angeles; New York; Hamburg, Germany; London and Seoul this month. Then there will be a sixth in November in Bogotá, Colombia.
