Is Kanye West, now known as Ye, stepping away from the music scene? According to fellow rapper Rich the Kid, the 47-year-old music mogul has suggested that he might be retiring. The announcement was made through a since-deleted screenshot of a text exchange posted by Rich the Kid on July 9.
In the screenshot, Ye is seen saying, “I am retiring from professional music,” before adding that he’s “not sure what else to do” in his music career.
In his response, Rich the Kid, 31, expresses his disbelief and disappointment and urges Ye to reconsider. “Retire? Why? How? The ppl NEED you the music you & Ty & we have made was the BIGGEST STAMP in culture to this date in 2024. Drop Ye about mine & V@ and we do it all over again the kids need you big bra fasho maybe some time to chill but retiring ain't it,” he wrote.
Shortly after the retirement post, Rich the Kid announced on Xthat new music featuring Ye is on the way. His forthcoming album, Life’s a Gamble, is set to release on July 19. “ACTUALLY WE DROPPING FRIDAY 7/19,” he wrote, confirming the release date. Which basically means that the post was nothing but a promotional strategy to grab eyeballs and ears.

The album’s tracklist includes a collaboration with West titled “Plain Jane,” alongside the previously released single “Gimme a Second 2” featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Peso Pluma.
The rapper was recently seen enjoying his Fourth of July holiday with his wife Bianca Censori at San Francisco's Exploratorium. The two tied the knot in December 2022.
The rapper was previously married to makeup mogul Kim Kardashian.
