Shahid Kapoor's latest film 'Kabir Singh' has got the audience divided. While critics have slammed the film for its story, the masses seemed to like it with the film earning big bucks at the box office. Actress and CBFC member Vani Tripathi Tikoo, however, belongs to the former group.

Terming the film as 'terribly misogynistic and violent', Vani has also slammed the film's lead actor for choosing such a film. In a series of tweets, Vani has called out the film. "I'm serious about this thought that Misogyny is "Infectious" have been noticing the narrative around #KABIRSINGH past few days..What a terribly misogynistic and extremely violent film! Arjun Reddy was bad enough and now this remake! Am I surprised it's doing well ...Well Well!," she tweeted.

In another tweet, Vani added, “I find it baffling that “Big Stars” make these choices who actually lead by Example! As the Cinematic journey of the country has gone beyond its “Traditional” Women as “Eye Candy” routine. Can we remember how movie characters are idolised? #StopMisogyny #KabirSingh.”

Most critics have panned the film but many have also praised Shahid's performance.

Despite mixed reception, 'Kabir Singh' is already a huge hit at the box office. It has made over Rs 70 crore in just three days and is expected to get past Rs 100 crore soon.

Vani is not alone in her criticism, however. Singer Sona Mohapatra also tweeted about the film and slammed Shahid for taking up the film.
