Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Imtiaz Ali is gearing up for his latest venture, Amar Singh Chamkila, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra. While promoting the film, the director opened up about his plans to make sequels of his iconic films such as Jab We Met and Love Aaj Kal.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Imtiaz clarified that there are no plans for Love Aaj Kal 3 or Jab We Met 2at the moment, however, he added that he "never says never". He expressed openness to the idea but stated that there are no concrete plans as of now.
“Well, no. No Love Aaj Kal 3, no Jab We Met 2, as of now. I don't know whether I should ever make a sequel but let's see.”
Imtiaz also revealed his eagerness to start filming his next project, mentioning that he has three scripts that he is excited to work on.
He added, “I never say never but no plan as of now. But then yes I have 3 scripts that I am now crazily desperate to start getting onto making. I can't wait to start filming again.”
Jab We Met starred Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles. The film was released in 2007 and received widespread critical acclaim. Fans loved Shahid and Kareena's chemistry in the film and even today, fans recreate several dialogues from the film for reels.
Meanwhile, Love Aaj Kal, starring Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan, was released in 2019. The film did well on the BO and received good reviews from critics. A sequel to the film, Love Aaj Kal 2,was released in 2020 and received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. It starred Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan in lead roles.
