Actor Michael Richards has revealed to the world about his secret battle with cancer. In 2018, the Seinfeld star was diagnosed with stage 1 prostate cancer.

Michael has made the big revelation in his forthcoming memoir Entrances and Exits. The 74-year-old actor was diagnosed with cancer in the summer after high PSA levels were found during a routine health checkup.

Talking about his diagnosis, Michael recalled how he started having thoughts of death.

"I thought. well, this is my time. I'm ready to go," he said.

Michael added, "But then my son came to mind just a few seconds later and I heard myself saying, "I've got a 9-year-old and I'd like to be around for him. Is there any way I can get a little more life going?"

Further, Richard went on to reveal that doctors suggested removing his entire prostate. The surgery turned out to be life-saving for him.

"It had to be contained quickly. I had to go for the full surgery. If I hadn't, I probably would have been dead in about eight months," he said.

Revealing what prompted him to write a memoir, the actor said, "I had over 40 journals I'd kept over the years and wanted to do a full review of my life," Richards said.

"I'm turning 75, so maybe wanting to do that is something that comes with being my age. I wanted to connect with feelings and memory. I'm surprised at how much I was able to remember."

In the famous show, he played the role of Cosmo Kramer inall nine seasons,spanning from 1989 to 1998. For his performance, the actor received Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor three times.

Apart from Seinfeld, he appeared in shows and movies like Kirstie and Faith, Walk the Light,Unstrung Heroesand Hope & Love among others.
