A day after Deepika Padukone along with director Meghna Gulzar shared the first look picture of the actress as an acid attack survivor in their next film ‘Chhapaak’, many celebs from the film fraternity expressed their support and cheered on.

From Priyanka Chopra to husband Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal and many others congratulated Deepika on her transformation as her character Malti whose story is based on the life of real-life acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal.

Interestingly, among other people who praised Deepika, Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli also gave a shout out to their effort. Kangana and Deepika have been at loggerheads or at least it shows on the public space for a long time now. Rangoli who is an acid attack survivor herself took to Twitter to wish Deepika and the film’s team as she wrote: “No matter how unfair and unjust the world is we musn’t reflect what we hate, this is commendable on @deepikapadukone and @meghnagulzar part, being an acid attack survivor I pledge to be their biggest cheerleader #Chhapaak.”

In an earlier interview, Meghna had said that “you won’t be seeing Deepika, you know. You will be seeing a disfigured Deepika,” and added, “There is an uncanny similarity between the survivor and Deepika.”

‘Chhapaak’ also stars Vikrant Massey. It is slated for a January 10, 2020 release.
