– By Sayyeda Maryam Ziya

It is the era of comebacks in Hindi cinema. A time when actors who were dismissed, subjected to memes, or simply forgotten- are returning with a confidence that tells us they never went anywhere. The industry just stopped looking.

Nepo-kids and their comeback

Leading this renaissance is Akshaye Khanna. A man who has zero tolerance for rubbish, loves his solitude, knows exactly where his strengths lie, fully accepts his shortcomings, and refuses to bend for anybody. He walks into a frame with the calm of someone who does not need to prove anything and still ends up stealing every scene. With Dhurandhar, he has unlocked a new level of relevance. He is cool, aware, effortless, and unbothered in the way only actors with true self-worth can be. Add to this the nostalgic reminder that his father, the legendary Vinod Khanna, once danced the iconic FALA steps, and it becomes clear that Akshaye is not just back, he is carrying a legacy forward with fresh fire.

Right beside him in this comeback wave swims Bobby Deol. His role in Animal single-handedly rewired audience expectations. Bobby barely spoke a word and still managed to become the most unforgettable part of the film. That stillness, that feral unpredictability, that brooding presence, all combined into a performance that turned him into a national obsession. Bobby did not return for small pickings. He returned to conquer.

The return of the King and Queen

The Comeback Era has royalty too. Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji have reminded everyone why they were adored in the first place. SRK charged back into cinemas with Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki in 2023 and reminded the world why his name alone can move a nation. Rani delivered one of her most emotional and grounded performances in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway in 2023 and brought back that intimate magic only she can deliver. Their returns did not feel strategic. They felt inevitable.

Emraan Hashmi’s range

Meanwhile, Emraan Hashmi has quietly crafted one of the most surprising glow-ups of the decade. After years of being boxed into a certain image, he walked into Bastards of Bollywood with a performance that was sharp, sly, controlled, and dangerously charismatic. No old formulas. No nostalgia gimmicks. Just pure craft. Emraan reminded everyone that he always had the range. People simply forgot. Now he has added Haq to his resume, and suddenly, he is being taken seriously.

Farah Khan, the YouTube sensation

Even creators behind the camera are living new second innings. Farah Khan reinvented herself through YouTube with the most unlikely partner in crime, her cook Dilip. The show is warm, chaotic, honest and extremely bingeable. Farah’s comeback works because it does not pretend to be anything. It is just her being her and the audience realised how much they missed that unfiltered version of her.

Maddy’s era

R Madhavan is another revelation of this era. He has transitioned from national crush to risk taking pan Indian storyteller. Shaitaan allowed him to tap into an intense, morally complex space that audiences did not expect. Rocketry pushed him even further as he wrote, directed and starred in a film that demanded complete creative courage. Dhurandhar showed a very different side (and look) of the actor Madhavan’s comeback is not a return. For Maddy, it has been an evolution of film choices and roles.

John Abraham’s experiments

Then there is John Abraham, who surprised even his biggest fans by delivering a cold, still, deliciously intimidating antagonist performance as Jim in Pathaan. John finally discovered a zone that fits him perfectly. A space where his physicality, silence and controlled aura come together to create a villain who is both intimidating and irresistible. His career did not restart. It recalibrated.

Himesh Reshammiya’s reign

At the centre of the most unexpected comeback of all is Himesh Reshammiya. The man returned to the stage with stadium-sized concerts that sold out instantly. The memes melted. The nostalgia hit hard. The audience screamed every lyric like their younger selves had been waiting for this moment. He came back with his cap, his heartbreak-soaked voice, and his signature energy. And the world embraced him exactly as he is. No reinvention needed.

So why is Bollywood obsessed with comebacks right now? The answer is incredibly simple. The audience has grown up. They no longer care about hype. They care about honesty, skill and originality. At the same time, the old gatekeepers have lost their monopoly. Streaming, social media, and a new culture of fan-driven narratives have given actors a second life without needing box office approval. The system changed, and suddenly, the forgotten found their opening.

The comeback era is not just a cinematic trend. It is a cultural reset. It celebrates the return of the unshakeables, the misunderstood, the experimental, the quietly brilliant, and the ones who refused to beg for relevance. And honestly, this is the most fun Bollywood has been in a long time.

Hindi cinema is seeing a resurgence of some old faces. From Akshaye Khanna to Bobby Deol to John Abraham- some of the well-known names of Bollywood are making a splashing comeback after a brief hiatus. Take a look.

– By Sayyeda Maryam Ziya It is the era of comebacks in Hindi cinema. A time when actors who were dismissed, subjected to memes, or simply forgotten- are returning with a confidence that tells us they never went anywhere. The industry just stopped looking. Nepo-kids and their comeback Leading this renaissance is Akshaye Khanna.

We all know how good a dancer Hrithik Roshan is, but we didn't know that his two sons are equally good as their father. The trio set the stage on fire with their impressive moves recently at a family wedding.

Chip of the old block, they say. Hrithik Roshan and his two sons, Hrehaan and Hridhaan, lit up the dance floor at a family wedding on Wednesday evening. Videos of the father-son trio dancing to Sukhbir’s popular song Ishq Tera Tadpave have been doing the rounds on the internet, and while we all know how good a dancer Hrithik is, his two sons also impress with their smooth moves as they match steps with their dad.

What is Laalo Krishna Sada Sahaayate is all about?

At the heart of Laalo. Krishna Sada Sahaayate is Laalo, a simple family man and a rickshaw driver, weighed down by life’s hardships and haunted by his past. Caught in situations beyond his control, his world begins to unravel, both internally and externally. Just when he seems trapped with no way out, life takes an unexpected turn as he comes face to face with the divine. What follows is a powerful journey where faith, fear, turmoil and hope collide, setting him on a path that challenges everything he believes in. Grounded yet deeply spiritual, the film unfolds as much within Laalo’s mind and soul as it does around him, leaving audiences to discover the journey alongside him.

Also read: Special Screening of movie Lalo organised for Vadodara Jail Inmates

The film stars Reeva Rachh, Shruhad Goswami, Karan Joshi, Mishty Kadecha, Anshu Joshi, Kinnal Nayak, Parul Rajyaguru and Jaydeep Timaniya, whose performances lend sincerity and emotional depth to the narrative. What stands out is how a cast of largely emerging talents stepped into complex roles that demanded restraint, sensitivity and authenticity. Directed by Ankit Sakhiya, Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate features music by Smmit Jay, cinematography by Shubham Gajjar, and editing by Krushansh Vaja and Ankit Sakhiya.

A 100 crore Gujarati hit

The 135-minute film is creatively produced by Shubham Gajjar and produced by Ajay Padariya and Jay Vyas, with Manifest Films presenting the film.

The film’s success has been nothing short of extraordinary. Released on October 10, 2025, Laalo, Krishna Sada Sahaayate opened modestly but witnessed a remarkable surge from its third week onward.

Made on a limited budget, the film went on to become the first Gujarati film to enter the Rs 100-crore club, while also grossing ₹7.25 crore in the international market. From an initial 300 shows to a downward trajectory of 5-10 shows during Diwali, the film expanded to over 3,000+ shows, growing from 19,000 admissions in its first 3 weeks to over 39 lakh+ admissions during the next 3 weeks, a rare and inspiring phenomenon for regional cinema.

Talking about the film’s journey, Director Ankit Sakhiya shared, “Laalo was always meant to be a very simple story — about an ordinary man trapped by circumstances, trying to find his way out. As we explored the narrative, we asked ourselves: what if, in his darkest moments, Lord Krishna himself shows him the path? That idea became the soul of the film. What started as a small, almost no-budget project has today become Gujarat’s highest-grossing film, with audiences cheering, clapping and emotionally surrendering to the story — something that’s rare for regional cinema. We are extremely excited to now bring Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate to Hindi-speaking audiences across the country. This film speaks a universal language of faith and inner awakening, and we hope it connects just as deeply with viewers beyond Gujarat.”

Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate releases nationwide in Hindi on 9th January, 2026.

Ranveer is now shifting his approach in the way he is choosing roles, with an emphasis on diversity and collaboration with acclaimed directors. Exit from Don 3 due to Dhurandhar's success? The actor is now keen to explore another genre after starring in a gangster/spy thriller like Dhurandhar. The same source explained, "Now that he has prioritised other projects over Don 3, Singh is now personally involved in aligning dates and schedules for Jai Mehta's film to ensure the film moves quickly," highlighting Singh's hands-on involvement in managing the production timeline of Pralay. Ranveer’s decision to adjust his upcoming projects appears to be a direct response to both the film's success and his desire to explore different types of cinema. The source stated that Ranveer was scheduled to start filming for Don 3 soon after Dhurandhar but now, with multiple changes, the film has been pushed again. There has been no official confirmation on Ranveer’s exit from Don 3 yet. Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar has reportedly begun preparing for the film and has finalised Kriti Sanon as the female lead. The film was earlier supposed to star Kiara Advani, who backed out due to her pregnancy at that time. The project is expected to be made on a large scale, with plans for filming across multiple locations in Europe.

According to multiple reports, Ranveer Singh has walked out of Don 3. The film, to be directed by Farhan Akhtar, was announced with Ranveer a few years back but has faced multiple delays and changes ever since.
