<p>Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan have come together on screen 18 years after their last collaboration, Tashan, which was a major flop. Now, they have teamed up for Priyadarshan's next film, Haiwaan, and in this film, Saif is the hero, and Akshay is the Haiwaan, as this is what all of us are now. Both of them are fantastic actors who know exactly what they are portraying on screen, and in this film, they have portrayed their parts fantastically well. But how is Haiwaan as a film? Watchable, just like other Bollywood thrillers. &nbsp;So needless to say, we as an Indian audience are habitual of watching these kinds of movies, which we also call ''thrillers.''</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>While it's a remake, this is one of those thriller films that gives a feeling that you have seen this kind of film before and can guess what is coming up next. Having said that, this film keeps you decently hooked throughout, and for this, the actors deserve the credit. However, when Priyadarshan is in the director's chair, a little touch of comedy is expected, and it plays well.</p>

<h3>Haiwaan: How is the story?</h3><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Oppam, starring Mohanlal, revolves around Shyam, a blind man who, despite his disability, lives his life independently with the help of his intelligence and highly developed sense of smell. He manages all his daily responsibilities on his own, from taking care of his household chores to working as the manager of a high-end residential society in Mumbai. Shyam is very close to a retired Chief Justice, Pradhan (Boman Irani), who has a daughter, Nandini (Pahal Ashok Choudhary), whom he has kept hidden from the world, and Shyam is the only person who knows about her. &nbsp;One day, Pradhan tells Shyam about Parshuram Gokhale, an innocent man whom Pradhan had once been forced to declare guilty of a crime he did not commit. After being convicted, Parshuram's entire family committed suicide.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Now, after being released from prison, Parshuram is on a revenge spree against everyone connected to his case, including Pradhan and his daughter Nandini, who is studying at a boarding school. However, after he successfully kills Pradhan, his next target is Nandini and how Blind Shyam will save the girl makes the story a two-hour thriller.</p><h3>Haiwaan - A thriller with a bittersweet taste</h3><p>First things first, Haiwaan is strongly held by Saif, who, as the blind man Shyam, manages to get everything right. He gets hero treatment and does all the heroic things. But it never goes overboard at any point in the film. But, as a viewer, it feels odd when a blind man sings and dances on the ferry or even at a marriage. Akshay is there, and he brings out his villainous side, which we haven't seen for a while now. So it feels fresh. But this pairing has surely worked for me, at least.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>Haiwaan falls short on two points: 1) timing, 2) a redundant story. Where the movie wins is in its execution, performances, cinematography, and music as well. While it lacks in two aspects, the other makes the film watchable if you don't watch it with the thought that it's a thriller.</p>

<p>A nearly two-and-a-half-hour film starts on an interesting note and, without wasting much time, builds up on the right track. The cat-and-mouse chase between Saif and Akshay's characters continues and holds your interest with their confrontations. But how much can two guys save a film when there is not much else to be explored? In thrillers, not everything becomes gripping with just serious zoom-ins and zoom-outs, shadowy or grey-toned shots, or a heavy tone.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>While all of this is happening, the film loses its grip with its subplot, and the police investigation was surely one of the most irritating parts. &nbsp;While Haiwaan is decently made, it suffers a bit from genre fatigue.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Haiwaan comes with the old-school vibe that works because of the performances and the camera work that makes the movie watchable.</p>

<p><strong>Ghamasaan film review: </strong>With Ghamasaan, Tigmanshu Dhulia is back in the world of crime. The gritty drama began streaming on ZEE5 on September 11 and revolves around a feared dacoit and a police officer determined to bring him down. Set against the rugged landscape of Bundelkhand, Ghamasaan stars Pratik Gandhi as IPS officer Aditya Singh and Arshad Warsi as the ruthless Maharaj. Rajpal Yadav and Ishita Dutta appear in supporting roles.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>There is plenty of material in Ghamasaan for a tense political crime thriller, from an intimidating antagonist and a determined cop to a region caught between fear and power. But does the film turn out to be as explosive as its title suggests? Let's find out.</p><h2>Plot of Ghamasaan</h2><p>The story of the film is set in Bundelkhand, where Maharaj has established himself as a dreaded dacoit with influence across several districts. <p>&nbsp;</p><p>The fear surrounding Maharaj continues to grow and people are forced to live under his control. His methods are brutal and anyone who challenges him risks severe consequences.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>An informer comes forward to give details about the dacoit and his operations and the police get a chance to infiltrate Maharaj’s network. But getting close to someone as powerful as Maharaj is a lot more complicated than simply finding him.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Meanwhile, the growing violence associated with Maharaj begins attracting greater political attention. His alleged influence over elections and his connections with powerful people turn the problem into something much larger than anyone had expected.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>And this is where we meet IPS officer Aditya Singh. Aditya is a dedicated, low-profile police officer, sent to the Chitrakoot region as part of a Special Task Force operation to take down Maharaj. <p>&nbsp;</p><p>As Aditya and his team begin studying Maharaj's network, they realise that they cannot reach Maharaj just by themselves. Informers, local contacts and Maharaj's own associates become crucial to the investigation.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>At the same time, Aditya's pursuit begins affecting his personal life. His wife, Aparna (Ishita Dutta), has to face the perils that come with her husband’s duty.</p><p>The deeper Aditya goes into the operation, the more complicated the battle becomes. He isn't only dealing with Maharaj; there is also pressure from the politicians and people within the system.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Rajpal Yadav's Kalika becomes an important part of the mission. What follows is a cat-and-mouse game between the STF and a dacoit who has ruled the region for years.</p><h2>What works and what doesn't</h2><p>One of the most effective elements of the film is, of course, the performances by the seasoned actors.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Pratik Gandhi does justice to the character of IPS Aditya Singh, who isn't written as a larger-than-life action hero. His performance isn't flashy, but does the work as a man trying to operate inside an environment where almost everyone has a hidden agenda.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Arshad Warsi is a versatile performer and the actor has proved it once again by turning into a violent and intimidating dacoit. He does bring menace to Maharaj, and the character's reputation is established long before he becomes a constant presence.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>However, the film has not fully explored the man behind the criminal. His brutality and influence are seen throughout 2 hours and 30 minutes, but Maharaj could have been a more layered villain. The character gives Yadav room to bring a balance of humour and vulnerability in an otherwise gruesome setting.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The villages, forests, language, costumes and overall visual setting are another good part of the film. Unlike the usual action movies, Ghamasaan's backdrop feels authentic and the political and criminal networks appear to grow naturally out of the region. It works well when the film shows how fear becomes part of everyday life due to Maharaj's influence.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Additionally, the political-criminal connection gives the story weight, as Maharaj's power isn't based solely on the guns his gang carries, but it also comes from the ecosystem around him.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Now, coming to the biggest problem in Ghamasaan, it's the film's pacing. The story has spent a considerable amount of time building Maharaj's reputation before Aditya comes into the picture. While it was necessary to present Warsi's character as more than an ordinary criminal, the execution can test the viewer's patience.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The opening portion was interesting in bits and pieces, but they don't always come together with enough momentum. The story becomes more engaging once Gandhi's Aditya arrives in Bundelkhand. This makes the film's second half feel stronger.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>And yes, the film doesn't provide something new. Only Gandhi and Warsi have been given most of the attention.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>And the most disappointing portion is the climax, as it comes abruptly and quicker than expected</p>

Supporting actors have also contributed to the film. The rural atmosphere gives the story a realistic touch, but the screenplay is not as effective as it appeared in the beginning. Several aspects could have been explored more. <p>Akshaye Khanna, who was part of Drishyam 2, stepped out of the third sequel in December 2025 post the success of Dhurandhar. Khanna’s exit was not well received by the film’s producer, Kumar Mangat, who alleged that Khanna had tripled his fees after Dhurandhar's success. Later, Jaideep Ahlawat joined the cast of Drishyam 3, and many speculated that the actor was replacing Khanna in part 3 of the Drishyam franchise.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>However, Ahlawat has cleared the air and stated that his character is a new character in the story and in no way a replacement to Akshaye Khanna.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h2>Jaideep Ahlawat on his role in Drishyam 3</h2><p>Speaking at the trailer launch event of Drishyam: The Conclusion in Panjim, Goa on Wednesday, Ahlawat cleared the air on his role in the film.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>“When I read the story, it was nowhere mentioned or said that he was a replacement to Akshaye Khanna. One character’s journey ends and another character’s journey starts. I won’t benefit from taking pressure from that character. There is no comparison for me as an actor because the journey is completely new; the introduction is new, and so is the relationship with Meera (Tabu’s character). My character is going to have a very individualistic approach. Hence, there was no pressure. My character isn’t existing because of someone else, but has his own journey. That is what the film is about and that is what is done,” he said.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Ahlawat also mentioned that his first film after graduating from FTII, Pune was produced by Kumar Mangat and that he has had a very long relationship with the producer. Titled Aakrosh, the film featured Devgn and Akshaye Khanna in the lead.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Back in December, director Abhishek Pathak had also clarified to Bombay Times that Jaideep was not replacing Akshaye. “I am writing a new character,” he had said.</p><h2><strong>What Drishyam 3 producer had said about Akshaye Khanna’s exit</strong></h2><p>Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Kumar Mangat had said, “I have suffered losses because of his behaviour. I am going to take legal action. I have already sent him a legal notice; he’s yet to reply to it.”</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>He went on to describe Akshaye as “toxic” and spoke about their previous collaborations. “There was a time when Akshaye was nothing. That’s when I made Section 375 (2019) with him. Even then, so many people told us not to work with him because of his unprofessional behaviour. His energy on set is absolutely toxic. Section 375 got him recognition. Later, I signed him in Drishyam 2 (2022). There is no comparison for me as an actor because the journey is completely new; the introduction is new, and so is the relationship with Meera (Tabu’s character). My character is going to have a very individualistic approach. Hence, there was no pressure. My character isn’t existing because of someone else, but has his own journey. They have written it very well,” said the actor. The film's lead actor Ajay Devgn confirmed the news at the trailer launch event of Drishyam: The Conclusion, adding that director-writer Abhishek Pathak has written an original film -which is different from the Malayalam Mohanlal-starrer Drishyam 3.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Devgn spoke at the trailer launch event in Panjim, Goa, which was attended by the cast and crew of the film, including Tabu, Shriya Saran, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Rajat Kapoor.</p><p>Devgn said that Abhishek came up with a script that was “brilliant.”</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>"We felt let this be the concludiing film. <p>But what is the evidence? &nbsp;Filling in for Akshaye Khanna, Jaideep Ahlawat makes a powerful entry as a fiery cop who is now leading the case. And watching the trailer, it looks like that he is on the verge of uncovering the truth about Sam and the Salgaonkar family's involvement in the case. But as Prakash Raj's character says in the trailer, Vijay may be illiterate, but it would be a mistake to take him lightly. As we have seen in the last two films, he is always a step ahead with his planning, and this time too, it seems he will go to any extent to save his family and walk away clean.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The trailer is gripping, with an intense tone, powerful expressions, and a strong hook that leaves you wondering how the story will unravel this time. &nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Expectations for the film are sky-high, and the truth will finally unravel in cinemas on October 2.&nbsp;</p>

While all the old characters are returning, the big new addition is Jaideep Ahlawat, who is the new cop, behind Devgn's character and will make things much more difficult for him. I really enjoyed finding that balance, letting the characters follow their impulses, and take us to surprising territory. I hope it’s a fun, unpredictable ride that keeps the audience on their toes.”</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Shakun Batra says, "For me, the most interesting relationships are the ones where people don’t quite know what they’re feeling, or how to make sense of it. Affection, insecurity, allure and frustration can all exist at the same time, often in ways that surprise us. I wanted to explore that emotional ambiguity with honesty, without judging the characters or trying to give them easy answers. There’s something inherently dramatic, and often quite funny, about watching people navigate those contradictions.
