Noting the statement given by the Additional Solicitor General (ASG), the Delhi High Court disposed of two petitions seeking a stay on the release of the movie. The film 'Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder' has been in headlines lately, since the Delhi High Court ordered a stay on its release on July 11. The film is based on the 2022 murder of Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in Rajasthan's Udaipur who was brutally killed by two men in broad daylight.

In its final ruling issued on August 6, 2025, the Ministry affirmed several key findings. The Revisional Authority determined that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had followed due process and committed no procedural errors in granting certification. It noted that the filmmakers had complied with the 55 cuts required by the CBFC and had also carried out additional voluntary edits.

Farhan Akhtar is speaking out amidst the growing controversy surrounding Raanjhanaa. The 2013 romantic drama, starring Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor, was recently re-released in theatres with an altered ending created using AI. The new climax, drastically different from the original, has triggered widespread backlash, with director Aanand L. Rai and lead actor Dhanush voicing their opposition to the unauthorised climax. Amid the uproar, Akhtar has come forward in support of the film's original creators. During the teaser launch event of his upcoming movie 120 Bahadur, Farhan was asked to comment on the controversy. ''I will always stand with the creator of the film. If the creator is unhappy about their work being changed, I will support them. That’s where my loyalty lies. I’m not aware of the detailed circumstances, but that’s all I can say,” the actor said. Adding to Akhtar's words, Ritesh Sidhwani, producer and Farhan's partner at Excel Entertainment, shared his thoughts on AI in filmmaking. He added, “AI is something that we have to embrace and use in the most effective and appropriate way. I’ve said this before, there were times, and I’m talking about earlier times, when we used to do research by going into a library and reading books. Then Google came into our lives and we started doing things differently. I think we need to use AI smartly, don’t get lazy with it. And of course, you can’t use it without the consent of the filmmaker. I haven’t seen it, but I’ve read about it and heard about it. And I don’t think it’s cool if the filmmaker, actors, and people involved haven’t given their consent. Then it shouldn’t be done. AI is here, and you have to use it wisely and to your advantage.”

Raanjhanna AI row
Directed by Aanand L. Rai, Raanjhanaa featured Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles and was re-released by production house Eros Entertainment. The controversy arose due to an AI-generated alternate ending, created without the consent of the original filmmakers or actors. In the original version, Dhanush’s character Kundan dies after being shot. However, in the AI-edited version, Kundan survives and wakes up in a hospital, surrounded by Bindiya (Swara Bhasker) and Murari (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub). The AI modification has been opposed by Rai and Dhanush. Earlier this week, Dhanush expressed his disappointment over the changed climax. Titled “For the love of cinema”, Dhanush wrote in his note, “The re-release of ‘Raanjhanaa’ with an AI-altered climax has completely disturbed me. This alternate ending has stripped the film of its very soul, and the concerned parties went ahead with it despite my clear objection. This is not the film I committed to 12 years ago. The use of AI to alter films or content is a deeply concerning precedent for both art and artists. It threatens the integrity of storytelling and the legacy of cinema. I sincerely hope that stricter regulations are put in place to prevent such practices in the future,” he added.

Released in 2013, Ranjhanaa is one of the intense and beautiful romantic dramas that has redefined the genre with the prolific performances and impressive plot lines. The movie is still one of the best love saga ever produced in Bollywood.

John Abraham is back with another patriotic and thrilling drama titled Tehran, set to premiere during India's Independence Day week. A taut geo-political spy thriller also stars Manushi Chhillar, Neeru Bajwa, and Madhurima Tuli. The film is set to release on 14th August 2025. The film is a fictionalised version inspired by true events and unfolds against the simmering global tension between Israel and Iran. Directed by Arun Gopalan, Tehran dives into the shadowy world of international espionage where one man’s allegiance could tip the balance between loyalty and betrayal.

As seen in the trailer, the story draws inspiration from the 2012 bomb explosion near the Israeli Embassy in Delhi, a real-life incident that spiralled into complex diplomatic ripples. As ACP Rajeev Kumar (John Abraham) is pulled into a covert operation that spans continents, ideologies, and fractured alliances, the lines between right and wrong begin to blur. Is Rajeev India’s ultimate patriot, silently shaping the nation’s future from the shadows—or a rouge officer playing by his own rules?Tehran is far more than a globe-spanning thriller—it’s a psychological and political minefield. The film doesn’t just trace espionage operations — it dissects international politics, deception, and mind games. Director Arun Gopalan said, "Tehran, to me, is a mirror held up to a fractured world. A story about shifting loyalties, blurred identities, and the human cost hidden in the shadows of global politics. We approached it with honesty and restraint because the truth it draws from is far from fiction. Every decision these characters make carries weight; every silence, every betrayal leaves a mark. I’m thankful to John, Manushi, and the cast for stepping into this world with such courage and authenticity. More than a spy thriller, Tehran is a tense, adrenaline-charged ride that forces you to ask: whose truth do you believe?”

Trust Shah Rukh Khan to maintain the humour among all the celebrations around his National Award win. As Congressman Shashi Tharoor congratulated SRK after winning his maiden National Award, the Bollywood star had a hilariously apt way of thanking the politician. Magniloquent means using high-flown or bombastic language while Sesquipedalian means using long phrases or words.
Shah Rukh Khan wins National Award
Directed by Atlee, Jawan satrred Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role as lookalike father and son alongside Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. He said in the video that he was overwhelmed with gratitude, pride and humility.

Actor Dhanush is the latest to raise objection over the AI-generated climax that has been used in his film Raanjhanaa for its re-release. The film starred Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor in the lead and was released in 2013. The film’s producers, Eros, recently re-released the film in Tamil and changed the ending with the help of AI. Earlier, the film’s director Aanand L Rai had raised objections over the AI-altered change in the film’s climax now, the film’s leading man too has objected to the changes stating that the alternate ending has stripped the film of its very soul.
Dhanush raises objection over AI-altered changes in Raanjhanaa
On Sunday, Dhanush issued a statement and share it on his social media handles. The actor revealed that he objected to the use of AI and an alternate ending, adding that “the concerned parties” still went ahead with it.Titled “For the love of cinema”, Dhanush wrote in his note, “The re-release of ‘Raanjhanaa’ with an AI-altered climax has completely disturbed me. This alternate ending has stripped the film of its very soul, and the concerned parties went ahead with it despite my clear objection”.

“This is not the film I committed to 12 years ago. The use of AI to alter films or content is a deeply concerning precedent for both art and artists. It threatens the integrity of storytelling and the legacy of cinema. I sincerely hope that stricter regulations are put in place to prevent such practices in the future,” he added.

What changes were made to Raanjhanaa climax?
In the AI-altered ending of Raanjhanaa, Dhanush's character Kundan doesn't die as it was originally shown in the 2013 film. In the re-released version, Kundan is then seen opening his eyes and sitting up on the bed, leaving Bindiya (Swara Bhasker) and Murari (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub) in happy tears. In the original film, Kundan is shot and sent to the ICU. Later, Zoya (Sonam Kapoor) rushes to the hospital to be with him in his dying moments.Dhanush’s statement comes after war of words escalated between Eros and filmmaker Aanand L Rai. On July 29, the studio issued a statement defending the use of AI in the re-release, and accused Aanand of unauthorised use of Raanjhanaa intellectual property in his upcoming film Tere Ishk Mein, which incidentally stars Dhanush in the lead. Ever since the AI-altered ending of Raanjhanaa was announced, Aanand has stated in numerous interviews that it sets a dangerous precedent for changing filmmakers' vision. He has also pointed out that his permission wasn’t taken from Eros before they altered the ending to a ‘happy’ one.
About Raanjhanaa
Helmed by Aanand L Rai, the film was released in 2013. The romantic drama starred Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor in the lead with Mohommad Zeeshan Ayyub, Swara Bhaskar and Abhay Deol in supporting roles. Raanjhanaa released on June 21, 2013, while the Tamil-dubbed version Ambikapathy was released a week later.

After filmmaker Aanad L Rai, now actor Dhanush too has objected to the AI-altered climax that has been added to Raanjhanaa as it was re-released by Eros, the producers of the film.
