The Sabarmati Report trailer: Vikrant Massey's film reignites the Hindi vs English debate

Vikrant Massey in The Sabarmati Report

Vikrant Massey plays a Hindi journalist who fights the odds to get to the truth behind the Sabarmati Express incident of 2007 in the new film The Sabarmati Report. The film's teaser had created quite a buzz after it was dropped on Wednesday. The film is based on the real incident of the fire in Sabarmati Express on the morning of February 27, 2002, near Godhra railway station in Gujarat. The incident left several dead.

Along with Massey, the film also features Ridhi Dogra and Raashii Khanna in prominent roles.

The trailer showcases Massey as a journalist who is Hindi-speaking and is hence sidelined by mainstream news channels. He works with a celebrated English-speaking journalist, played by Ridhi Dogra. However, the Godhra incident proves to be a turning point in his career.

While the film has the Sabarmati train incident as the backdrop, what is prominent in the trailer is also the Hindi vs English fight. The trailer highlights the ideological debate between Hindi-speaking journalists and the West-influencedEnglish-speaking reporters in a thought-provoking manner with the events unfolding in the background shaping the politics and reporting of the tragic events.

The Sabarmati Report is set to be released on November 15. Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, it has been produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan and Anshul Mohan.
