Stree 2 is unstoppable! Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor-starrer earns Rs 400 crore worldwide

Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Stree 2 is enjoying a glorious run at the box office. Released on August 15, the movie has been dominating the box office since day one of its release.

Directed by Amar Kaushik, the horror-comedy is the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster movie of the same name.

Released on the big weekend of India, the Independence Day, the movie is earning big at the box office, despitetough competition from two major releases, Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedha.

In the first week of release, the movie is set to surpass the Rs 300 crore (Rs 3 billion) mark in India. As per Trade Analytics, the movie has so far earned Rs 289.60 crore (Rs 2.8 billion) at the box office.

However, as per the production house, the movie's Gross Collection in the domestic market has surpassed the Rs 400crore (Rs 4 billion)mark.

In a post shared on X, they wrote, "Explosive week 1: ₹401 crore (Rs 4.1 billion) worldwide GBO. India GBO ₹342 crore (Rs 3.4 crore), overseas GBO ₹59 crore (Rs 590 million). Day 1-6: ₹269.2 crore (2.6 billion). Day 7 (Wednesday): ₹20.4 crore (Rs 208 million). Total net collection India: ₹289.6 crore (Rs 2.8 billion). "One astounding week of blockbuster success! Thank you.''

With mind-blowing box office numbers, the movie has become the highest-grossing Bollywood entertainer of the year, surpassing Hrithik Roshan's Fighter.

Apart from Rajkummar and Shraddha, the movie stars Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aparshakti Khurana. The follow-up tothe 2018 movie, this film is set in the fictional town of Chanderi and this time, the town is facing a new terror, of Sarkata.

Stree 2 Review

WION's film critic Shomini Sen gave a positive review of the movie. She wrote, "Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor carry the film well. Rao's comic timing is well known and is well displayed here as well. Kapoor plays the mysterious, enchanting witch with absolute ease and even performs a few action sequences. The stars of Stree 2, however, are Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi, who play their characters to perfection and make the film such a fun watch. Banerjee's Jana is silly, cute and gullible who is taken for a ride ever so often by his friends. He gets the best moments and delivers to his part brilliantly."
