Rekha plants a kiss on Richa Chadha's baby bump at Heeramandi premiere, watch

The premiere of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's new web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar in Mumbai was a star-studded one. From Alia Bhatt to Rekha to Vicky Kaushal to Salman Khan, Bollywood came in full force to see Bhansali's latest project on the big screen. Several photos and videos from the star-studded event are doing the rounds of the internet. One video features Rekha chatting to a pregnant Richa Chadha, whoplays one of the main leads in the series.

The video is special because Rekha plants a kiss on Richa's growing baby bump in the middle of the conversation. Richa looks visibly overwhelmed by the veteran actress' reaction.

Rekha 'cried and hugged' Richa post-screening

Rekha showered praises on Richa Chadha's performance in Heeramandi. Richa portrays the character of Lajjo in the series. The veteran actress also complimented her on her dance moves.

"Receiving praises and love from someone as revered as Rekha ji is a moment I will cherish forever. I couldn't have asked for bigger validation, my heart is full. There's a song in the series, which is my solo mujra. For that, I referenced her song from Umrao Jaan, 'Ye kya jagah hai doston'. She has been my inspiration, my hero and she’s the definition of what an icon is. Her kind words and affection towards my performance in Heeramandi' left me speechless and deeply touched. I will never forget this night and her blessings really," said Richa.

This is an encouragement for me to continue striving for excellence in my craft. She gave me the tightest hug and that was truly something that left me overwhelmed," the actress further said.

Married to actor Ali Fazal, Richa Chadha is expecting her first child later this year.

The web series marks Sanjay Leela Bhansali's digital debut and features an ensemble cast including Richa, Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Segal. The show will also mark the comeback of actor Fardeen Khan. Heeramandi is scheduled to debut on Netflix on May 1.
