Aamir Khan speaks to Vinesh Phogat on video call, fans says Dangal 2 in works

The whole country was in shock when the news of Vinesh Phogat's disqualificationfrom the Paris 2024 Olympics broke.

The Indian wrestler has returned tothe country and received a warm welcome and support.Recently, actor Aamir Khan chatted with the wrestler over her commendable performance in the summer games.

As per the photos shared on Khan's fan account, the actor spoke with Phogat over a video call to hailher on her performance. The picture that has taken the internet by storm shows former wrestler Kripa Shankar with Phogat as they both chat with the Sitaare Zameen Par actor.

Soon after the photos went viral, several netizens hailed the actor for her sweet gesture. Some even went on to proclaim that Dangal 2 was on the way.

Commenting on the post, the actor said, ''Championn Hain.''

Another commented, ''Dangal 2 is on its way.''

After Phogat reached the finals, several fans demanded Aamir Khan and director Nitish Kumar for Dangal 2 on the journey of the wrestler.

Khan's 2016 movie was a huge box office hit. The movie is based on the real-life story of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat who trained his daughters, Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari, who went on to become wrestling champions.

Ace Indian grappler Phogat was disqualified for being overweight (by just 100 grams) in her weight category (women’s 50 kg). The disqualification came after she created history by becoming the first Indian female wrestler to reach the finals at the Summer Games. On D-day, she got disqualified for being overweight.

After the shocking disqualification, the wrestler also announced her retirement. Taking to social media, Vinesh wrote, “Mother, wrestling beat me, I lost. Your dream and my courage are all broken. I don’t have any more strength now. Goodbye Wrestling 2001-2024. I will forever be in your debt.”
