Alia Bhatt at 2024 Met Gala
Global recognition comes with a fair share of controversy. Bollywood star Alia Bhatt has earned a lot of praise worldwide for her recent appearance at the Met Gala 20204 in New York. She followed up with an appearance at a Gucci show in London earlier this week. But the actress now is in the news not for her films or fashion choices or opinions—rather for the lack of it. Alia's name has appeared in the Blockout 2024 for maintaining silence on the war in Gaza. The list also includes names of other international celebrities like Taylor Swift and Priyanka Chopra.

Alia's alleged silence on the situation in Gaza has led to her name being in the list. It came after she turned heads at this year’s Met Gala on May 6 dressed in a stunning saree by Sabyasachi and was named as the top celebrity at the event. She followed the appearance with another international outing: attending the Gucci Cruise Show 2025 in London on May 13.
The celebrity blocklist also includes other popular names such as Virat Kohli, Priyanka, Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Kylie Jenner, Zendaya, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Zac Efron, Nick Jonas, Kevin Jonas, Justin Timberlake and many others.
What is the Blockout List
Amid the ongoing Isreal-Gazal conflict, a digital protest has begun on social media where individuals are purposefully blocking those celebrities who have not spoken in public about the conflict or support of Gaza.
Celebrities who are vocal about the conflict
Meanwhile, many celebrities are taking a stand on the Israel-Gaza conflict and using their star status to give out a strong statement. They are being praised for taking a stand. Actors such as Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef, and John Cusack are among those who are actively striving to speak out against the war. Several stars, including Billie Eilish, Finneas O’Connell, and Mahershala Ali, wore red pins on the red carpet at Oscars earlier this year, signifying their support for Artists4Ceasefire.
