In one of Kashmir's most audacious cricket scams, the Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL) T20 tournament collapsed amid allegations that organisers fled Srinagar, leaving players confined to hotel rooms over unpaid dues and forcing the abrupt cancellation of matches in a storm of chaos and outrage. An FIR with Jammu and Kashmir Police has been filed against the organisers in the Valley. Launched on October 25 at Srinagar's Bakshi Stadium and inaugurated by Jammu and Kashmir Youth Services and Sports Minister Satish Sharma, the Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL) T20 tournament ignited massive excitement with eight teams featuring international stars like Chris Gayle, Thisara Perera, Richard Levi, and Ayan Khan, alongside promising local Kashmiri talent. Promoted by the Mohali-based Yuva Society and championed by Jammu & Kashmir cricketers, the IHPL sought to invigorate sports tourism across the Kashmir Valley. The crisis erupted when Delhi-based organisers allegedly vanished, defaulting on payments worth tens of lakhs. Now we had to get the commissioner of Police to intervene, we had a meeting with the hotel owner, they have decided to allow players to leave. The law doesn't allow them to hold them back. After the win, all corners of the society congratulated the Indian team, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and others. However, the attention now turns to the victory parade, which is often the theme when India win a World Cup, so what do we know so far?

In 2024, a victory parade was carried out for the Indian men's team for winning the T20 World Cup on the coastline of the Arabian Sea at the Marine Drive, before a grand ceremony was hosted at the Wankhede Stadium. A similar plan could be on offer after Indian women's team won the World Cup.

During his time playing for India’s Under-15 team in the Asian Cricket Council Under-15 tournament in Kuala Lumpur in 2000, Banik was teammates with former Indian internationals, Irfan Pathan and Ambati Rayudu. In the same year, alongside the two said players, he was part of India’s U-15 side that toured England. Banik represented Tripura at several domestic age-group tournaments, including the Vijay Merchant Trophy, the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the CK Nayudu Trophy, the MA Chidambaram Trophy, the Buchi Babu Invitational, the Under-19s Cooch Behar Trophy and the National Under-25 tournament, among others. Meanwhile, the Tripura senior men's team players, currently playing a Ranji Trophy match in Agartala against Bengal, wore black armbands to pay tribute to the departed soul; the TCA also paid tribute to the former cricketer at its headquarters in Agartala on Saturday.

Tripura's Rajesh Banik was born on December 12, 1984, and was a right-handed batter and a part-time leg-spinner.
