'We're lucky...,' Aussie T20I skipper Mitch Marsh on not bowling much

Aussie captain Marsh hopes to regain full fitness in time for T20 World Cup

Australia's T20I skipper Mitchell Marsh says that he's not looking to bowl much in the upcoming T20I series against England. Marsh has not bowled since suffering a hamstring injury in the Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier this year. Marsh also didn't bowl in the recent T20Is against Scotland which Australia won 3-0.

The all-rounder explained it as Australia having multiple all-round options in Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis and Aaron Hardie as well.

"I'm sort of just building," Marsh said on the eve offirst T20I against England.

"I don't tend to bowl myself too much, is the honest answer, and we're lucky that we've got plenty of bowling options within our team, so we'll see how we go… my bowling's on line: whether or not I bowl, we'll wait and see. We've got heaps of options. I'm always building something," he added.

Australia will play three T20Is and five ODIs before hosting India for the most important five-Test Border-Gavaskar series. Marsh is hoping that he'll be fit to bowl by then and so does Aussie head coach Andrew McDonald.

"A lot of our priorities will be geared around that," McDonald said on SEN on Tuesday (Sep 10).

"You'll see that unfold with the management of our players. We'll be very pointed around who does what in terms of [Sheffield] Shield cricket coming into the summer to make sure that they are ready for that first Test match," he added.

Australia will also host Pakistan for a white-ball tour comprising of three T20Is and as many ODIs ahead of India and the head coach acknowledges that they'd have to compromise in that series.

"We may have to give up a little bit in terms of that Pakistan white-ball series with certain players, to make sure that we are firmly prepared," McDonald said. "We're really keen for India to arrive."

The first of five Tests against Australia start on November 22.
