The forthcoming India-Australia Test series is keenly awaited. Since 2014/15, Australia have not won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, including losing two successive home series. Thus, the players who have worn the Baggy Green for the first time following Australia's last Test series triumph over India are yet to lift the elusive Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Hazlewood, who debuted during Australia's victorious 2014-15 home series win against India, recently claimed that Pat Cummins & Co. are desperate to settle scores versus the Asian giants.

As quoted by ESPNCricinfo, Hazlewood said, "There are quite a few players who have never beaten India in a Test series. It's quite astounding to say that. That's one we need to tick off, definitely, in particular at home - we should pretty much win every series here at home."
"That last series we obviously bowled them out for 36 in Adelaide and we thought here we go, [we are] back at home [and] confident on these grounds. People say we played India B in that last Test, but they can sometimes be stronger than the best team. They've got unbelievable depth in all formats and we are starting to see that now."
In the 2014/15series, Australia beat India 2-0. Since then, they have lost all the four series (two in India, two at home). India beat Australia in a Test series on Australian soil for the first time in 2018/19 and replicated that feat, sans many key players, in 2020/21. The 2020/21 series marked a historic win for India, who were led by Ajinkya Rahane after then regular captain Virat Kohli's early return home due to paternity leave.They overcome a 1-0 deficit -- being all-out for 36 in theseries opener in Adelaide, i.e. was a pink-ball contest -- to eventually win 2-1.
