Australia's dashing opener Travis Head smashed a quickfire 25-ball 80 during Mitchell Marsh-led side's convincing seven-wicket win over Scotland in the three-match T20I series opener on Wednesday (Sep 4). Head was on a roll in his side's 155-run chase as the left-hander started on a dominating note. As a result, Head slammed the highest scoreby a batter inside the powerplay, effectively making the run-chase a one-sided affair. During the first six overs, the swashbuckling batter slammed 73 runs (off 22 balls), laced with 16 boundaries.

While Australia lost Fraser-McGurk early in the chase, in the first over for a 3-ball duck, Head and captain Marsh accelerated and made a mockery of the 155-run target within the first six overs with their strokeplay. In the fifth over, Marsh smashed Jack Jarvis for 30 runs, including three 4s and equal number of 6s. In the following over, Head joined the party and scored 26 runsoff Brad Wheal, with five 4s and a six. Thus, Australia also managed the highest team total in powerplay in T20Is.

Early in the contest, Australia rode on XavierBartlett (2 for 23), Sean Abbott (3 for 39) and Adam Zampa (2 for 33) to restrictRichie Berrington-led Scotland for a modest 154 for 6 after opting to bowl first. None of the Scottish batters went on to score big as Australia restricted them to a below-par total. Eventually, Head closed the game by virtue of his batting blitz in the powerplay before ending with a splendid25-ball 80 to give his side a 1-0 lead.
