T20 WC - White House official shares cheeky remark on USA's win vs Pakistan
The ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 edition, being held in West Indies and the USA, has produced many shocking results and close affairs. Co-hosts USA stunnedBabar Azam-led Pakistan in a thrilling Super Over contest, held last week in Dallas, creatinga lot of buzz. Recently,US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller indulged in fun banter with a reporter whenasked about the Monank Patel-led USA'swin over Pakistan in the mega event.
During a press briefing, Miller was askedto comment on the USA, which is an associate team, pulling off a heist against Pakistan, a full-member side. In a cheeky response, the official said, "I often get in trouble when I try to comment on things beyond my area of expertise, and I would say Pakistan's cricket team is certainly in that category."

Talking about the USA-Pakistan contest, USA opted to bowl first and rode on speed merchant Saurabh Netravalkar's 2 for 18 and spinnerNosthush Kenjige's 3 for 30 to restrict Pakistan for 159 for 7. In reply, the co-hosts managed 159 for 3 riding on captain Monank's 50 and a vital 36 not out from vice-captain Aaron Jones. In the Super Over, Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir conceded 18 runs before Netravalkar held his nerves to concede only 13 off his final six balls to guide his side to an epic win.
