Rinku Singh is a certainty in India's final T20 World Cup squad, says former Indian chief selector

Former Indian cricketer,and BCCI chief selector, Kris Srikkanth believes Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star Rinku Singh will certainly be selected in India's final T20 World Cup squad. It is to be noted that the Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection committee are likely to announce the provisional squad on May 1, i.e. the deadline for all the participating teams. Ahead of the team announcement, Srikkanth lauded Rinku and said that he has proven himself in every opportunity presented and should 'get the visa' for West Indies and USA -- the co-hosts for the mega event in June.

Rinku has had a great start to his T20I career, amassing 356 runs in 15 games at a blistering strike-rate of 176.23. Thus, Srikkanth said on StarSports Press Room Show, "A classic example is Rinku Singh. Rinku Singh is a certainty in my 15. He hasn't got that many opportunities to bat in the IPL but you see his international track record, it's an amazing track record. Amazing track record in South Africa and with every opportunity he has got. So Rinku Singh has to be a certainty in the 15. But if we go by recent form or opportunities, he hasn't got enough opportunities."
He further added, "End of the day you've to forget who the player is and look at what is his track record. Is he a great player, is a deadly player, is he fit? So Rinku Singh has to be a certainty, he has to get the Visa and he will fasten his seat belt to take the flight to the United States to play the game as one of the 15 members in the side."
At present, Rinku is involved in the IPL 2024 edition, playing for the two-time winners KKR. He hasn't had much opportunities with the bat and has112 runs in eight games at a strikerate of 157.75. Overall, he has837 runs in the IPL, in39 games, at an average of33.48 and strike-rate of144.06.
