England's ambitions of winning yet another Test series on Pakistan soil took a massive dent after they started on a poor note in their second innings on Thursday (Oct 17). Needing 297 to win against Pakistan, England are 36/2 at Stumps on Day 3 and will need a good partnership if they are to wrap the series against Pakistan. After Day 3, England assistant coach, Paul Collingwood has backed his team to come good and be realistic abouttheir chances to win the second Test in Multan against Pakistan.

'We have got to be realistic'

England assistant coach Paul Collingwood, speaking to Sky Sports: "We have got to be realistic. It is going to be difficult.

"There will be belief in the dressing room. We have done some special things in the past we have broken records. We have got to be realistic as well that it will be a tough, tough chase."

England need 261 runs more to win the Test match with eight wickets in hand in Multan and a result is possible on Friday with the Bazball approach of the visitors. Ben Stokes’ side lead the series 1-0 having beaten Pakistan at the same venue last week while records tumbled left, right and centre.

However, this time the hosts are in a far better position as they need eight wickets to win the match. Having scored 221 with the bat in their second innings, Pakistan gave a 297-run target to the visitors to chase. Earlier, Pakistan had established a 75-run lead over England after Stokes and Co were bowled out for 291 in their first innings. Sajid Khan bagged seven wickets in the innings and also bagged Ben Duckett in their second innings.

England were bowled out for 291 in their first innings with only Duckett showing resilience with bat as he scored 114.
