Underfire Shan Masood-led Pakistan will host England in the second and penultimate Test on Tuesday (Oct 15). The hosts are on the mat following their dramatic loss by an innings and 47 runs at the hands of Ollie Pope-led visitors despite posting 556 after opting to bat first, in Multan. Riding on centuries from Masood, Abdullah Shafique, and Agha Salman, Pakistan posted over 550, however, England declared at 823 for 7. Harry Brook (317) and Joe Root (262) hammered the Pakistani bowlers to all parts of the ground as the visitors took a healthy 267-run lead.
In their second innings, Pakistan crumbled under pressure and got dismissed for 220 to become the first team to lose by an innings after scoring 500-plus in the first innings.
Masood & Co. are under immense pressure to avoid another series loss at home.
Both teams have announced their playing XI ahead of the penultimate contest. It will be interesting to see if Pakistan are able to make a comeback or whether England will continue to call the shots.
