SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Abhishek Sharma says that former India all-rounder Yuvraj Sing believes that he could be a better bowler that him. The comments came as Sharma picked two wickets in the second qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Friday (May 24).
“Whenever I had talks with Yuvi Paaji about my bowling, he used to say that I can be a better bowler than him, so that thing I had in my mind and he will be really happy with my performance,” Abhishek said in a video posted by IPL.

Abhishek, however, revealed that he had to convince his captain Pat Cummins and coach a lot for letting him bowl.
"I was waiting for this opportunity. It was not easy, I had to convince my captain and coach because they had not seen me bowling much,” he said while adding that his father would have been happy with his two wickets.
“My father will be very happy, he was a left-arm spinner. He has been working really hard on my bowling,” said Abhishek.
“Somehow, I knew that if I kept on working on my bowling I could contribute to my team."
The batter has had a breakout season for SRH, scoring 482 runs in 16 games at a whopping strike rate of 207.85. SRH booked their place in the IPL 2024 final with 36-run win over the Royals and will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday (May 26) in Chennai.
“I know in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have got a massive fan following here. I would request all the CSK fans to come and support us in the final,” Abhishek requested in the video.
SRH has featured twice in the IPL final, in 2016 and 2018, winning it the first time before losing to CSK in 2018.
