The upcoming second Test between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur is under scrutiny as one of the stands in Green Park stadium is  not 'entirely safe' for the public. India are leading the series 1-0 after winning the first Test in Chennai by 280 runs. The second and final Test of the series is set to start on Friday (Sep 27).

The developments were reported by news outlet the Indian Express a couple of days ahead of the Test. At the venue, Stand C has been deemed dangerous by the state Public Works Department (PWD) and it has been advised to the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) to not sell all the tickets for the particular stand.

“We have been told to sell only 1700 tickets for the stand, which has a capacity of 4,800. The repair work will continue for the next couple of days,” he added.

India last played New Zealand in Kanpur back in 2021. The Test went on for five days but ended in a scintillating draw with New Zealand holding onto the last wicket for more time than India would have liked.

India will host New Zealand again after the culmination of the Bangladesh series. The three-Test India vs New Zealand series starts October 16 in Bengaluru.
