England
England Test coach Brendon McCullum has been named their white-ball coach as well, making him the first all-format coach of England since his Test predecessor Chris Silverwood. McCullum's appointment comes after the sacking of white-ball coach Matthew Mott under whom England failed to defend their 50-over and 20-over World Cup titles.
McCullum will start his twin role from January 2025. Interim white-ball head coach Marcus Trescothick will fulfil his role during the upcoming Australia series as well as the Caribbean tour in November as well.
"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Test team, and I'm excited to extend my role to include the white-ball sides," McCullum said on his appointment.
"This new challenge is something I'm ready to embrace, and I'm eager to work closely with Jos and the team to build on the strong foundations that are already in place," he added.
McCullum had shown little to no interest in the role earlier, given the hectic schedule of England. He, however, took the job after assurance from director of men's cricket Rob Key.
"Rob Key's vision for the future of English cricket is something that really resonated with me. The idea of a unified coaching structure, especially with the schedule easing next year, made perfect sense. I'm energised by the prospect of guiding both teams and am grateful for the support from the ECB and my family as I take on these added responsibilities," said McCullum.
Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum had taken over England's Test set-up in 2022 and the attitude of the team had changed almost overnight. They may not have the result to show for it but their flamboyant style of cricket has sure gotten them acknowledgement and praise from fans.
