India head coach Gautam Gambhir is in the line of fire after losing a three-Test home series against New Zealand 0-3. This was India's first whitewash ever at home in a Test series. Before that, India had also lost an ODI series in Sri Lanka – first time in 27 years.
The results, coupled with a few selection calls, have put Gambhir in a soup with the BCCI who had appointed him the head coach just four months ago. Now, as per a report by news outlet Dainik Jagran, Gambhir could very well lose his post as head coach of Test team at least if India don't perform well on the upcoming tour of Australia.

It is to be noted that Australia have lost the last four Test series against India, including two at home and two away. India last lost a Test series against Australia in 2014.
According to the report, which cites BCCI sources, Gambhir could be replaced by National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief VVS Laxman as head coach of the Test team. Gambhir, however, will continue to be the coach of white-ball teams in ODIs and T20Is.
During the New Zealand series, India's batters failed to play both pace and spin. In the first in Bengaluru, India were all out for 46 runs on a lively pitch under cloudy weather. In the next two Tests, the Indian team opted for spin tracks in both Pune and Mumbai but failed to win even a single game.
India's tour of Australia begins on November 22 in Perth before the day-night second Test in Adelaide from December 6-10. The third Test will be played at the Gabba in Brisbane from December 14-18 before the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) from December 26-30. The last and final Test will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) from January 3-7.
