The key stock market indices on Thursday opened higher despite a muted trend in Asian markets and rate hike by the US Federal Reserve.
The Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the BSE, which had closed at 36,542.27 points on Wednesday, opened higher at 36,691.93 points.
At 09:50 am, the Sensex is up 52.20 points at 36,594, while the Nifty is up 8 points at 11,060.
Shares of HDFC, M&M and HDFC Bank are among the top losers in the morning trade, shedding as much as 1% each.
Shares of Bajaj Finance, Indiabulls Housing Finance too were under pressure, tanking by up to 1% in the morning trade.
Meanwhile, Rupee is trading around 72.4975 after opening at 72.41-mark on Thursday morning.
