Expedia chief Dara Khosrowshahi has been chosen as the next CEO at Uber, The New York Times reported.
Dara, an Iranian American, 48, will replace Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick who stepped down in June under pressure from investors over a string of governance related issues.
Dara Khosrowshahi's appointment comes just as Jeff Immelt, chairman of General Electric Co announced on Sundaysaid he was no longer in the race for the CEO's position at Uber.
Khosrowshahi appointment has however not been confirmed by Uber even as tech and news websites in the US have almost confirmed the Expedia CEO as the successor to Travis Kalanick at Uber.
Among other candidates, Meg Whitman, the chief executive of Hewlett Packard Enterprise was also in the race for the CEO's positionwith the Uber board frantically looking for a CEO who could quickly take charge after Kalanick's controversial last few months at the company which was plagued by several issues including reports of sexual harassment at the company, bullying of workers, unprofessional behaviour resorted to by senior employees.
Uber had fired 20 employees in June following an investigation by a law firm into sexual harassment allegations and other claims.
